1. I saw them the other day, going for $199 I think each. Even though I love Pink Floyd, and I'd love to get Meddle with the bits and pieces that I don't have - as well as certain sessions of the 'Household Objects' project, that's just too much.

Myself, I'd have done it like this:

    CD1: The original album
CD2: The B-sides, everything from the singles
CD3: Demos, early versions and alternate mixes (1989 - 1990)
CD4: Demos and alternates (1991 takes)
CD5: Remixes including those not released on common releases from Melon
CD6: Achtung Baby DTS remaster - 5.1, and commentary sections, and the radio spots
CD7: 'Achtung Baby 25 Years On' - all the songs played live since ZooTV, select best performances and Acrobat soundcheck from Hershey

DVD1: The videos and promo pieces
    DVD2: The behind-the-scenes sessions
DVD3: The 'From The Sky Down' documentary
DVD4: An unreleased concert DVD with photo gallery, DTS audio

I'd not have bothered with Zooropa, rather saving that for a remaster itself with a second disc of demos. $100 - $120 for the above listing.

And Alex I just mean that its nothing new. When I've bought box sets in the past, its been because theres unreleased material on there- new stuff that we haven't heard before, a fresh look on an era. There's just nothing that grabs me about this and its extremely disappointing because there's so much to be had.

Fair enough. They could have included more, but as I said before, perhaps there's a reason they didn't. For example, maybe the video bootlegs wouldn't turn out nearly as good as the Paris one did or something. Knowing U2, they wouldn't release something like that unless they could make it look as good as the Sydney show. It's not really an excuse, just a thought.

I agree with you on that they could have done more, but at the same time I accepted it a couple days after the announcement, and now I'm just happy with what I WILL be getting.

I was hoping for something more along the lines of this.

I'm seriously considering just replacing my 20-year old AB copy and buying the standard, single CD edition. TO be honest, I very rarely listen to the bonus discs, if ever, from the other remastered albums. It'll depend on in-store price adn availabity, I suppose.
  4. Maybe its old news... but the Uber Deluxe Box Set price just went up on Amazon.ca.... Very disappointing!
  5. Just noticed that the price for the Uber Box Set on amazon.ca has shot up dramatically!

    Disappointing...

I agree. The band, missed the boat on this one.No live cd from 1992 (which of course, was the AB tour).I believe some have said this isnt even remastered, then why buy it ?

Adding Zooropa made zero sense.Obviously, the band feels this release is not worth standing on its own.Its a toss in.Strange.

Yeah, saw that too. Luckily I pre-ordered mine while it was still 399!

That album should stand alone, like the string of videos from it have - one classic after another!
  9. So im gonna have to spend at least £75 to get AB and Zooropa and on top off that they might not be remasterd and on top off that remixes that i dont like on 2 discs,,,,,
I was expecting something like the pink floyd's The Wall Immersion remasters,,,same price .......I am so,,,,,,to say dissapointed is an understatment .U2 could off done something wounderfull with this release but no ,,im sat here feeling as if my first love has dumped me agean !!!!!!

Dont get it.I love U2,but this release seems useless to me.Nothing live from the great 1992 tour ? ! No rare tracks ? ! AB and Zooropa, not REMASTERED ? !!!Then why bother ? Why is Zooropa even included ?

Fuck it,dont get it.Im not.By not buying it,will speak volumes to this band. You dont "have" to buy it cause its U2.Its a lazy money grab. And worse, they didnt bother to make it a great remastered rerelease.

    I bought the deluxe remasters from the 1980s from U2,and like them alot.But,in truth,they are very overpriced.UF super deluxe,2cd/dvd when released 2 years ago,was $69.99.Its a beautiful set,but that price is madness.I bought it,this year,for $30 on Amazon.I just checked today,its listed at $31.04.A very good price.

Look at Pearl Jams remastered re-releases of Ten,Vs and Vitology. They are,of course, remastered, have extra tracks, and live material.

    Ten (deluxe 2cd/dvd edition),released last year.CD 1 is remastered.CD 2 remastered AND remixed,plus 6 bonus tracks.DVD of the unreleased 1992 MTV unplugged performance.The price...$29.99

    Vs/Vitology (3 cd deluxe edition) released this year.CD1 VS remastered,plus 3 bonus tracks.CD2 Vitology,remastered,plus 3 bonus tracks.CD3 unreleased live show from Boston,04.12.94,16 tracks.PLUS an mp3 download,from the 10 club,of 6 live tracks,not included on the live cd,from the same Boston gig.So thats 3 cd's,plus a 6 song mp3 download for......$37.48.Not bad huh.

That,is how you treat a re-release.Remastered,rare live and unreleased tracks. AFFORDABLE.Wait a while for the AB release. The price, after the holidays, will drop bigtime.
