Acrobat is standard 3/4 (or 6/8 properly speaking).

Alex, was it written for the remaster? Really? Didn't know that.
  2. I don't know that for sure, but to me it definitely sounds like U2 now and not U2 back then!
  3. Oh Berlin should be higher in the front page poll
  4. Oh Berlin is incredible.

Sorry to quote myself but this song blows my head away, it's so gorgeous ♥

Inspired by Drew's outtakes thread (and by watching From The Sky Down -once again- the other night) I'm listening to the Achtung leftovers/salome sessions/outtakes/various stuff... It makes you realize HOW MUCH did they really shake things up with the decade change. What do Oh Berlin, Alex/Korova1 or Down All The Days have in common with Heartland, All I Want Is You or Angel Of Harlem? They're only 2 years away from each other, but they don't sound like it's the same guy singing or the same band playing at all. Radically different. Their 89>91 change laughs in the face of The Beatles or any other band that claimed a radical change in sound or style. Awesome. Some of this got lost with the final Achtung Baby album mix (One and TTTYArms could have belonged to Rattle And Hum for example), but listening to the sessions and leftovers blows my fucking head every time. What a band.

I've always found the section of At The End of the World when Flanagan is there for the Zooropa sessions interesting. He talks about how when U2 jams in the studio it sounded like "old" U2, and they had to actually bring those jams into the decade rather than actually starting there. So it was a HUGE change for them and I'm sure there were many many times (even more than they've talked about) when they questioned what they were doing.
  7. And isn't it funny how now all of these songs sound like U2?
  8. Every time i listen to the Hansa cd i think that is a very decent Cd . Just the way it is without changes
  9. I think it is time to renew this topic again .

In my days AB helps me to recover of all the negative feelings and pressures that the choice have made, I believe myself and all of you can do it yourself!

I came up to the idea, that hmmm okay let's see One's Restaurant Version and the next day I've seened it on TV it was so epic.
The Band was in that era in topform and one of the best songs that from U2 have heard and written and the lyrics are amazing and very true.

When you see this, and the rest of the songs are also very true it is so fresh and powerful and Hansa was the best studio that U2 the record have made and AB's sleeve is also very beautiful with pictures and the lyrics llke nowadays' U2

I bit comparing a bit of Ultra Violet's lyrics ("your love is like a light bulb") to the concert beginning from Cedarwood Road and to the rest of the SOI album and they had very-very good luck despite of struggling and it's just brilliant and I think SOI is a little sister of AB, but in uber hyped form.

    Do you think also?
I wait for your positive comments of that!
    Thanks in advance.
  10. I won't read 90 pages of it... but yeah, Oh Berlin was the highlight for me aswell.

And Down All The Days... how can they make two totally different songs out of the exact same music is beyond me.

    ---

btw... I was one of those that totally HATED Achtung (all except Acrobat) when it first came out. It took me a couple of months to get it right and finally love it.
  11. Just started listening to the Kindergarten disc about now, what an amazing disc. One of my very favourites of this anniversary edition

The utter bleakness of Love Is Blindness on the Kindergarten disc...whoa.
