1. Exactly, thats why it won. And are there really people here who hate HTDAAB that much?
You would think being a 'return to roots' with a more traditional rock sound, it would be less controversial.

  2. Coldplay is gonna put out another album? Go them

You'd have to ask them, but several have a disliking of it. It's not hellishly bad but not overly fantastic either, certainly not up to Pop or Passengers standards.

HTDAAB is the soul thing which got me into u2, so i love it, cant believe people would be different.

Wait you think Passengers is a better album? I agree completely with Larry when he said:
"There's a thin line between interesting music and self-indulgence. We crossed it on the Passengers record"

Original Soundtracks No1, was weird for the sake of being weird, which doesn't make for good music, apart from Miss Sarajevo of course, and 'Your Blue Room' wasn't bad either.

But if you like completely out-of-this-world music, then OST is for you. If you like safe music, Bomb and ATYCLB are for you. I'd be interested to know what ''interesting music'' is to Larry.

I appreciate it's as you say "completely out of this world' value, its definitely an interesting experiment. But as 'music' ie. something that you would put on your MP3 player, I couldn't do that.
Especially as half the album is instrumental.

And yeah, Larry prefers songs where he gets to hit stuff.
I'm guessing Brian Eno and Larry don't have the warmest relationship at times, it certainly sounds that way from the Q article.
  8. Man oh man everyone is biting eachother in the neck in this thread haha. Everyone is so hyped about the album they're even starting to attack U2! I say everyone takes a breather from this thread because all its doing is making everyone stressed out.
  9. This is up on @u2.com, yet more confirmation of the single's release date....

NEW @U2 IF BONO SAYS IT, IT ...

We received a couple emails alerting us to a conversation Bono and Adam reportedly had Thursday night in Dublin with fans outside the band's studio. Bono apparently told the fans two pieces of news worth passing along:

    * The new single will be released to radio on January 19 (see below, too).
    * The tour will begin in Spain before the end of June.

  10. Most radio stations are saying January 19 and some next week.

Check back a page or so for what I quoted about Get Your Boots On.
  11. First of all, slightly OT: I agree with Drew on Passengers, it's better than HTDAAB, ALTOUGH HTDAAB is pretty cool too

And I like the idea of electronics in the song
(Can we please focus the discussion on this little detail, instead of fighting because of those stupid Beach Clips?)

Oh, and I think we can pretty easily say that the 19th is the date of the new single.
  12. when they say released on the 19th of feb, is that when i can physically own it or when they start playing it on radio and start showing the video on tv?
