If only they could replace Pride with some rarity.

And where's Drowning Man and Luminous Times?

What is everyone's problem with Elevation?! It is one of my favorites and I'm so disappointed they aren't playing it!!!

    4. lol...nice idea, not happening tough. SBS has a meaning, Mofo...doesnt

I love Red Hill Mining Town. It's one of my favourite songs from JT and I would take it ahead of One anyday!

As, for Mofo, I actually think it's a really deep meaning song. Behind the amazing barrage of music is a really deep emotional song about Bono's relationship with his mother and the affect her death had on him.
  3. I said to my brother before the tour started that the drums at the start of Breathe would be a great opener and I think its works really well. Perhaps I would have Boots second ahead of No Line as I think Boots is a far jumpier song. Still think No Lines great live though. I am, like everyone else, kind of sick of Pride and With or Without You. They should replace them with other favs like Heartland and Even Better Than the Real Thing. What I am not sick of though is I Will Follow, and Im dying for it to be played at Croke Park. It seems that Electrical Storm wont be a regular sadly as I was delighted when it was played in the Nou Camp. I would maybe drop Desire, and have Edfe sing Van Diemens Land instead! Would also love to see Streets follow COBL, I think that would be an awesome combination. For fear of rambling on I will say finally that 40 should be the closer.

    (PS Fucking play Acrobat!!)

  4. You like Elevation? I despise the album version, don't mind the Tomb Raider mix and dislike it live as it is too silly for them to be singing it at their age.

Elevation along with Pride are both rather weak songs that they've played ad infinitum for the past 2 tours (I think they do it just to annoy us).

And anyway Elevation is similar Get on Your Boots except less innovative and even more embarassingly cringeworthy, so they've got themselves a good replacement there.

Well I'm hoping it's played in Toronto.
  6. back from leg 1
    barca 1 and 2
    milan 1 and 2
    and Nice
    and I have to say
change the ending ...... the setlist builds up great, the new songs work well and after sbs I cant move anymore ... too much dancing, I need water after that ! which is impossible if they take your big bottles on entry .... arseholes ....
then the setlist is really slowing down, and instead of having the great energising fly-zoo station and vertigo encore .... they now are going tooo slow for me ....
wowy - uv - and mos are nice, but not energetic enough
I would love to see some old tunes to go home with
although mos is beautifull .... it is not placed right !!!
and the 5 new songs are doing very well ... but they are over before you know it, and then we get the same old singalong songs .... they should realise the have created way more classics by now ...
, elevation, vertigo ... please extend this song as they did with the second version on vertigo ... with the singalong ohwoehowohoooo .....
, stand up comedy where the hell is this one ????
like a song, COBL should become ABOY .....
ah well .... just got back, still need to land .... ciao for now ...
    paul

  7. As long as I'm not there to witness it.

U2 have some great songs which need taken back to be played live and others put aside.

After playing Pride at the Obama inauguaration, it's more of an important song to them than ever before. Keep it by all means, but change it up. It seems what U2 like to do is grab a list of 40 songs and threaten anybody with death who dares them to drop One or Pride.

    Example: The Rolling Stones.

Yeah, they play the same songs time and time again, but for each show they (the band themselves) consider songs from a 100+ song list. The favourites are kept in like Satisfaction, Start Me Up, Jumpin' Jack Flash, but 50+ songs are ones they may not have played ever before.

So you'd have Satisfaction up against All Down The Line, She's A Rainbow, Infamy...so they may not release studio albums for a long time - last was 2005, but they've got twice as many songs as U2, so they can afford, like U2, to choose something from an extensive back catalogue.
  8. Well if they play All Because Of You I'm walking out of the stadium. I agree the encore needs a rocker like The Fly or Hold Me, maybe even Stand Up Comedy. Oh and extend Vertigo like on the previous tour...

What would be really cool would be like in East Rutherford on Vertigo. Just when you think the band are getting to the end of the show with ''40'', then Larry drums a bit faster into an extended version of Vertigo. No reason that can't be done with Magnificent or Get On Your Boots.

Hold Me would work beautifully right after Ultra Violet, or even The Fly. All Because of You...I wouldn't walk out of the stadium, but I wouldn't be excited for it.

    8. Desire / Billie Jean (snippet) / Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough (snippet)

I could think of a better snippet like Morphine. But that might be a little inappropriate...Anyway, drop Breathe as an opener, have it as an encore and NLOTH needs to be first.

I wonder if they will play wave of sorrow on this tour. Given that since their last tour they have released loads of stuff like Joshua Tree Remastered (2 disks)and the free U2 Rare and Remastered (or something like that) for the u2.com subscribers they could and i hope they do use some of these songs.

And you guys are complaining about Moment of Surrender? I'd prefer Always or Levitate...I swear it will happen one day.
  10. as much as i enjoyed paris,it was an amazing night.

the set list is seriously lacking the u2 rockier songs.

needed some real uptempo tunes.ie pop/zooropa/achtung baby tunes.

u,v sounded incredible, but some real out and out u2 rock is whats needed in this tour.

lets hope they dig those out over the next few months.

  11. 1. Get On Your Boots (Let me in the sound intro)
    2. No Line On The Horizon
    3. Magnificent
    4. Veritgo
    5. Until the end of the world
    6. Mysterious Ways
    7. Angel Of Harlem / Man In The Mirror (snippet) / Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough (snippet)
    8. If God Will Send His Angels
    9. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own
    10. Unknown Caller
    11. The Unforgettable Fire
    12. City Of Blinding Lights
    13. Beautiful Day / Here Comes The Sun (snippet)
    14. Let's Dance (snippet) / That's The Way (I Like It) (snippet) / I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight / O Come All Ye Faithful (snippet)
    15. New Year's Day
    16. Sunday Bloody Sunday
    17. MLK
    18. Where The Streets Have No Name / All You Need Is Love (snippet)
    19. Breathe
    20. One

    encore(s):
    21. Ultra Violet (Light My Way)
    22. Moment of Surrender
    23. 40

Just an idea I had, I thought it would be better to move things around a little and add similar alternative songs. Could work, then again the odds of U2 doing something like this are slim.
  12. Who do you think really decides the setlist? Does the band mainly decide by themselves, or do they have some "advisors" that try to put it together? Do they poll fans after the shows to get some feedback? Are the people who decide reading this forum? I want to know how to communicate to the people who can really affect some change.

Overall, I am fairly happy with the setlists. I LOVE Stuck In A Moment, Ultraviolet, and The Unforgettable Fire. But I'd love them to get rid of With or Without You, One, and Sunday and substitute any of the following:

    Acrobat
    Please
    Lemon
Until the End of the World
    Zoo Station
Even Better Than the Real Thing
    Drowning Man
    In God's Country
    Bad

I assume MANY fans would love that change.

Now how can this information get to the person(s) who decide the setlist - whoever that is?????
