    Let's make a bet...

    You give me hope!

So if there was a NLOTH v. VLVida... Coldplay would have won - based on sales, airplay and critical acclaim.

None of that means that VLVida was a better album or not... just sayin' thems the facts

Viva La Vida was a pretty good album (thanks to Eno).
Though it's much more on the pop side of things compared to NLOTH, which is a much more serious artistic work.

But It'll be very interesting to see if CP keep or change their direction, hopefully they'll keep Eno.

  4. Well exactly. What matters more, producing an album and seiing it sell well or going on tour with an album and seeing the fans flock?

Viva La Vida may have been more successful than No Line on The Horizon, but U2360 eclipses the Viva La Vida Tour by a margin that I don't even think Viva La Vida's (album) success can make up for.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest_grossing_concert_tours says it all. Number 6 is only half way through.

Anyway, that's for another debate. I was really looking forward to an album during the middle of the year June/July. But I somehow can't bring myself to think that we'll see it then. Baffles me how a band can chrun out 4 albums in 4 years (Boy-Unforgettable Fire. Even go as far as saying 6 in 8 years.) to taking forever to put an album out. Ok yes, the latest album may be a little more complex in terms of layers and stuff but these guys are professionals at the top.

I woldn't like to speculate on the sound of the album. I suppose I'd like a mix of fast paced rock songs that would easily open a tour. Like Vertigo and Elevation but with more of a 1980's U2 sound, a little crunchier. Elevation meets Out of Control.

I'd also like a few atmospheric tracks thrown in (Unforgettable Fire esque). We had FEZ on NLOTH which I think is quite emotional and atmospheric but we've yet to see it's true colours live.

Would also be nice to have an emotional piece that really comes into it's own live. Particularly one with Edge playing with a slide. Kite and City of Blinding Lights are good examples. sound good on the album but when played live...

Just a few thoughts. i'd probably be happy if they released an album aimed at Salsa dance.
  5. Yes - I think Viva la Vida is a good album, essentially thanks to Eno, but I didn't feel like going to a Coldplay concert.
It's not just a question of songs, but, I guess, also a question of ego, and being a rock n roll stars. That's part of the fun of attending a concert - and Chris Martin, who's certainly a nice guy, is too much on the wanker side for my taste. As Bono nicely pointed out on air a few months - well, almost one year! - ago

To me, that was the pot calling the kettle black.
  8. If U2 are remotely worried by the album scheduling of another band - especially Coldplay -then things are bad!

Bono's only focus should be bettering NLOTH and give us a classic U2 album - no more, no less
  9. jesus, we need some actual news quick

  10. I understand that but Id rather wait and get a great album instead of a Fez continuation which SOA was originally meant to be.
