1. The editing is actually going pretty well. I find it almost soothing...and exciting. I've been dreaming this pet project for about 2 years, so it's cool to see it up and going. I'm using Keynote on my Mac as it's their equivelant of PowerPoint and i see what you mean about sending the image backwards. Also I have to change the date to either black or white depending on the photo I used. Other than that, it's great! I'm probably going to post the zipped collection (covers only) when I'm done, so if anyone else wants to use them they can. I'm hoping to have the Boy collection done by new years!

  2. If you just crop the bottom of the photo you're using so it doesn't go into the white area where the date and location is, you don't need to change colours.

And make sure you bring the layer with the grey border to the front of the slide when you're done editing, it helps cover up any slight alignment problems you may have with the photo or other elements and having an even border framing the cover just looks nice.

Also you're going to have a ridiculous amount of bootleg CDs at the end of this
(1136 so far, according to Dieder, who plans on listening to every single bootleg available here, crazy I know )
You should check his thread out:
    http://www.u2start.com/topic/7051//0/0/
Maybe you guys can have a competition and see who gets there first (or who gives up first )

You could probably burn 3-4 shows to a single CD, which might save space and time preparing cover art. Or you could only download noteworthy shows, apparently theres a U2 concert guide book (you can find links to it in the above thread).

Alternatively if you're a obsessive completionist and want to have every single show out there you can maybe use the book to create liner notes for each show. According to Amazon the the book includes:

Information, anecdotes and facts from virtually every single U2 show ever, from 1976 to 2003. Also covers: Dates, venues, set lists, radio and TV broadcasts, quotes from the stage and details of unreleased material and dozens of cover versions performed by U2.

And it has over 500 pictures most previously unseen, which you might be able to cut and paste from the pdf and use in your covers.
  3. Yeah, a bit of OCD I know! I don't really plan on listening to every one...I'm trying to polish off the Elevation tour, but 3 years since downloading them I'm only just starting the European leg. Just something more to have. The fact that someone had made a template for those shows though got me going on the other tours. It's just nice to see "Elevation #31: Toronto" as opposed to some name that someone created for the bootleg. I thought the same would be true of the other tours. And yes, it's going to be a heckuvalota cd's in the end.....but being a carpenter, I'm planning a display shelf for them all in the end! I'll be done the Boy tour artwork this afternoon, so I'm off and running. And I think I have enough confidence to tackle the other tours artwork on my own, but you sure gave me a great boost. I'm very very happy with how the artwork has turned out, and I hope that it's okay that I use it. I realised that it is the gray border that really completes the look, sorta tying it in to the original artwork for 'Boy'.

Everyone's posts have been awesome, and again Vanquish you have been more help than I could convey.

I do have the U2: Live book....it's about 13 years old now and beat up! The pictures are cool, but truth be told I got all the info i needed.....tracklist, dates and artwork right here at u2start.com

It's going to be a long, fun road ahead, and I'm already rounding that first corner.

    thankyou, thankyou, thankyou
  4. vanquish (or anyone else whose interested)- if you could make a 360 tour powerpoint cover art template, that would be awsome!
