    I'm not working because, job hunting in this town is a bitch. Combine it with the fact I'm currently attending college, (which I went to today pucking my guts out. Guess thats real lazy.) gives me less of an incentive, although I intend to start job hunting over winter break. I'm living with my elderly grandmother, because my psychotic mother kicked me out when I was 15, and my grandmother needs help around the house. I have not been to the doctor in over a year, and I'm perfectly fine with it that way. As I'll much rather take my chances trying to stay healthy than using a one size fits all system, which is run by a bunch of unelected bureaucrats. I imagne whoever the next president is, Obamacare will be the first thing to go.

  4. I know why they were created, and I even support their original purpose. Did you know Samuel Gompers, the founder of the AFL was against compulsuary unionism? He felt they would be stronger as an organization if they had only voluntary members.

    Between the increaseing corruption of unions, and the fact that national labor laws, make them redundant, they have definantly outlived their usefullness.

    You ever think maybe that if unions were half as good as the left makes them out to be, that they woulnd't worry that if workers are given a choice to choose to be members, they wont?
  6. Unions have been corrupted over the years, you're right about that. And I personally think compulsory membership is terrible.
    But they were originally created to protect the workers, don't know if the proper solution was to reform the unions or just take them out entirely...hope things turn out alright with right-to-work.

    Once again, Aaron, you're showing your colours to everyone. "Never assume you know anything about me again, you elitist pig." I'm asking you questions based on your previous statements. I'm addressing your attitude and stance, both of which seem to be based upon the belief that the whole world is allied against you. It's interesting to note that you haven't asked me what my political viewpoints are. For all you know, I may well agree with you in regard to unions. However, the fact that I have highlighted your childish stance and way of attacking those who criticise you REALLY brings out your true character. I'm sorry that your life has been hard, but life's been hard for many people. You have no idea how MY life's been, yet I'm an, "elitist pig." As for your health, well, surely you know that things can change, and change with alarming rapidity. Once again, this forum has become less about politics than it has become about YOU, Aaron. "Job hunting in this town is a bitch"? That's a ghastly excuse, and you know it, too. You, "intend to start job hunting over the winter break," do you? Don't slag other people off when you're picking and choosing when you even bother looking for work, Aaron. It's noble of you to help your elderly grandmother, but what happens when she's not around to look after? What's it going to be - homelessness or a free house?
  8. I make no false pretenses about knowing your political beliefs, because I don't care. I assure you I'm not a bitter man. My hatred of union runs very deep on account of one little fact. The UAW tried to kill my father in 1998 because he went against them on some issue (don't remember what), so once again, quit assuming you actually know anything about me.

    And having good health insurance is the reward for making good choices in life. At this time, I feel I don't deserve it, as I have done nothing to earn that right.

    I work on my terms. I'll find a job at the time of my choice. When I choose to work is not really any of your business.

  9. I was watching a program called 'Wanted' (Opsporing Verzocht) the other day on national television. During the show CCTV footage is shown and the police asks the audience to help solving the crimes.

    There was this story where an one man company had bought a €280.000,- touring car to win his money on his own. After a few years, he had almost paid the bus of when a group of Feyenoord supporters wanted to travel to Prague for an Europe League match.

    On their way to Prague the 40 men completely ruined the bus, leaving €20.000 damage. The owner of the company went home when the supporters were in the stadium, because he wanted no more risk.

    Two weeks later the supporters burnt down the building where the company was situated. The owner decided to hide for the men, telling only his close relatives that he lived about 100 km from Rotterdam for the next weeks. However, a few weeks later the men appeared again and set fire to his bus. The company went bankrupt and the owner lost everything he had.

    Now, is the club Feyenoord guilty for everything that has happened? Of course not. Feyenoord had nothing to do with the trip and the supporters didn't ask for permission or something.

    What I am trying to say is that your footage of 'union thugs' doesn't proof anything other than that there are some loose madmen.
