Matt,did you finish the Albany gig ?...IMO,a very good show...I love IAM Mine opening,then Whipping picks things up......good version of Ghost,and a great version of All Or None....
I'm listening to LBC right now. This is my second time through the show. I was hoping to listen to it more by now (and give a "review") but things/life got in way these past few days. Anyway, it's a very solid gig - the whole "less is more" analogy(?). I like this show for the fact that "Ghost" and "All or None" are played, even though I generally rate them low on my Riot Act song rankings - but still solid tunes. None of the bootlegs I had listened to until this one have either song on them. I guess it this was one of the first times they have even played "All or None." I still have to listen to a show that has "Get Right" on it. I think that happens in Nassau, no?
On Wishlist now. "...as fortunate as Albany..." hahahaha
As this leg of the tour draws to close (in my own world, that is) it'll take everything in me to not make a mix. I want to go through the summer leg (at least some of it, anyway - especially June) before I let the dust settle and put something together.
On "Save You" right now - great tune but I prefer it earlier in the set. I think a 2003 start with "I Am Mine" and this would be great. I'll have to see if it ever happened.
Now "Once" - I don't think I've heard this one much in the 2003 boots at this point.
I'm on the Nassau Coliseum show now - well into the second encore (Daughter just started) and thought I should post before the second cncore (with the infamous Bu$hleaguer) begins.
This is a fantastic show. Opens with Long Road, which sounds as good as ever ... then right into an early RVM. I like it at the beginning of the set as they are a little more "efficient" with it as opposed to an extended jam that tends to go on a little too long sometimes. The hits keep coming: all three singles from Ten are here and so is Porch; along with RVM, Animal, Daughter (with WMA tag), Small Town, and Blood make appearances; Corduroy and Better Man from Vitalogy sound great and there's a very nice performance of Not For You. Present Tense is its usual powerful self, Do The Evolution is fine but sometimes a bit sloppy to be honest. However, In Hiding makes a rare appearance early in the set so that's a postive from Yield. Nothing from Binaural here but lots from Riot Act (Save You, I Am Mine, the return of Thumbing My Way after missing a few shows, You Are, a rare performance of Get Right, a decent rocker, and finally the b-side Down). What I really like is the acoustic slant on Last Kiss which adds a new, less-1950's sounding dimension to the song. I Am A Patriot sounds great. Earlier performances of this song weren't as ....moving.
Anyway, up until this point the crowd and the band seem to be getting along spendidly - both are very appreciative of each other (by the way, I'm well into Alive now). Lots of cheering, singalongs, etc. So whatever I'm about to hear may very well be a life lesson: Deserved or not (and I'm not judging ANYONE here), you're only as good as your last mistake.
To be honest, I wouldn't have really "recognized" the boos during the song - A LOT more apparent afterwards when he starts talking AT the crowd. He seems to eventually gets some of them back but hearing the "play rock n roll" and "stick to what you know" comments definitely indicates not all/many of them.
Finishes nicely(?) with two songs about "freedom." Can hear cheering at then end - the booers had left? EV's "USA...USA.." chant seemed very sarcastic/forced and he seems to leave the stage quickly. Did he slam down his mic?
Anyway, the whole incident is ... interesting, to say the least.
Yes Matt....he slammed down the mike..he was pissed..as were a majority of the fans,including me.But,you know how I feel about it..so I won't go on and on, like a busted record.
I will say this...outside the arena,many fans were mad,and still chanting USA over and over..
PJ dropped a few songs after the Bush song...a great gig,got ugly....
I usually listen to cd1....and I also love RVM early in the set,and I couldn't agree more with you,about how sometimes the song won't end.
Buffalo is next......and is even better than Nassau Matt......
Just out of curiosity, do you know which songs got dropped from that second encore? Black?
Haven't listened to any June shows - yet - but was wondering what kind of reaction does Bu$hleaguer get in other places? Were audiences in other cities less affected by the song or just as much so? The NYC area was probably/obviously not a good place to bring that one out.
