1. Yes it is.I hope they finish sometime in the near future.

I thought you were going to leave a comment on that big win in NJ last night ?

Henrik (the KING) Lundqvist was on his game.Huge 2 points.
  2. Originally posted by EDDMB:Nice pic.Strings huh ?

I will have both Camden reviews in today gentlemen.Between Paddy's Day weekend, and 2 NY Ranger's games the last 2 nights (did a "road trip" to NJ Prudential Center last night),I havent had a moment.

I only had some Bailey's (Irish Cream) in my coffee this past Sunday...some Irishman (descent) I am! For shame.

Unthought Known is the best (well, my favourite) song on BS.

My Camden 2 review is ready and waiting!

  3. Are you like me and think that a team that wins in regulation should get THREE points? In other words, there's always three points up for grabs in each game.
  4. 2 points is fine in regulation. I like the new system in ot. 4 skaters each, and then a shootout if no team scores.

As far as Paddy's Day,I dont go wild anymore, but I do have my wife cook the corned beef and cabbage, and many a Guinness is had.

My wife is of German decent (her mother was born in Munich),so she doesnt get all worked up for Paddy's Day.
  5. My wife's dad was born in Italy (Pescara) so not much St. Paddy's excitement in this house. Unfortunately she also doesn't eat red meat so not corned beef for me either.

I like Guinness but prefer Kilkenny or Harp.
  6. Hey, where are those Camden reviews????? It's Wednesday!
  7. I've just finished listening to the seventh show of the 2000 NA tour (Tampa). That's a good one!

I'll relisten to them if...I mean when...we start reviewing them. I'm planning to take a short break at this point. I overdid it with the first leg of the 2006 tour and don't want to make that mistake again.
  8. 05.27.06 Camden ,NJ

This venue is in Camden,NJ, and Philadelphia is right across the river, thus as to why it is often considered a “Philadelphia” stop on the tour. Both bootlegs from the 2000 tour were actually in Camden, not Philly,as the boots state.EV references this by saying “Where the hell are we anyways? Jersey? Philly?”

This show really starts out well.I like the slow Wasted Reprise, followed by Life Wasted.WWS sounds good, new tunes opening, fine.Evolution > (a kick ass version of) Animal.Mike is all over the palce riffing, and I can picture Stone and Jeff pogoing like mad here.

Severed Hand now.Ok,another new one.Not bad, but 4 out of 6 to start off ?

Corduroy sounds great. And even though a bunch of new tunes have been played, the flow is fine. These are the better tunes from PJ,so all is good.

But now we have a problem.Marker.Followed by the great GTF,followed by the awful Unemployable.Too much of below average tunes now.I would have been a bit annoyed.

The rest of the main set is stellar. The classic Lukin > NFY with the mandatory Modern Girl tag.

Daughter sounds really good.Nice long jam.Ed is clearly "into" this show.Vocals are spot on.I have always loved the lyrics to this one."She holds the hand that holds her down." "The shades roll down. The shades roll....down." The W.M.A. tag makes it happen for me all the time. The nice riffs, deep bass. Crowd is all into it.... Classic PJ.

I AM Mine sounds great after Daughter.A somewhat newer song, but its a classic.Nice placement.Ed says "We are in good form tonight." He is 100% correct. But the show is starting to take a very political feel. Almost radical.Hmmmm.

Jeremy is brilliant,as always.Loud ohhhhhhhh from the crowd.Followed by a stunning version of Present Tense.Opening sequence is just perfect,as is the rest of the song.Crowd once again, really singing along, in all the right spots.I would have been really pleased with this set by now.

Porch, clocking in at over 10 min, is just way too long.Solid jam yes,but wow, please trim it down boys.

    Encore 1

Opens with Better Man. A classic. As mentioned, this crowd was incredible all night. EV says "Take over for me",they do as told.

Come Back is a waste here.I would have been shaking my head. Its an ok tune ,but should never, ever, see the encore. Period.

Small Town saw alot of action on this tour during the encore. Its a classic tune,so I cant really say a word.Solid version, and goes over very well,as expected.

Now things get very, very weird. Before Last Kiss, Ed tells the crowd that they are indeed doing something special tonight ,and tells of how their charitable proceeds from ticket sales are going towards the Innocence Project. Ed rambles on and on and on,about how these men were wrongfully convicted. Then, much to my shock and chagrin,EV actually calls them onstage !!??!! WTF ??? The show turns into a political rally.Bringing back those terrible memories of Nssau,04.30.03.

He goes into more rambles about the West Memphis 3 case, and the Dead Man Walking movie, that he made with his ultra liberal, left wing bud Sean Penn. Again, all do respect Ed,this is a " concert". Please get off your soap box,as its insulting to your fans. I didnt pay hard earned cash to hear your personal opinions about who was,or was not wrongfully convicted of these crimes. Im not fucking here for that. And to have them actually "play " on a song is a joke.

IMO,this is absolutly disgusting. This is a rock show. EV feels the need to shove, and I mean SHOVE, his personal political opinions, his political manifesto's and agendas, right down his fans throats.I dont appreciate this, and Im quite sure,Im not the only fan who would have been livid. His political, public declaration of innocence is vexing. This is one of the reasons as to why I quit this band after the Nassau show in 2003. He actually has these guys come out,and then fucking perform onstage ! Holy shit. Can you imagine this ? This isnt Rock the Vote, or a political concert for these guys.If that was the case, you know what you are getting into.

Last Kiss of course sounds awful.Wasting time, and a spot where the band could have played Black. Fucking ridiculous.

Truth be told,I would have split. What fucking nerve by the band to do that.

Alive falls flat to me here, and is of course expected.

    Encore 2

Ed sys the band "just had a conversation backstage".Im sure.I bet they said maybe we went a bit too far there ?? Lets blow the fans heads off now with classics.

SOLAT sounds insane,as does BLOOD.I love these 2. Ed screams his head off.Fantastic versions here. "ITS MY BLOOD"

Even Flow during the encore ? Very nice. Solid rocking version.Wow.But things stop on a dime,as Comatose ruins the run.

Whats this..LEASH ?? Amazing encore.I love this tune. This would have taken some of the sting away from that brutal encore 1. Some of the sting, not all.

RITFW is of course played. Not a shock.

    Ledbetter ends it.

This was a difficult show for me.The classics are here. But that nonsense with the convicts, onstage, then having them play a song ?? I dont care if they are guilty or not guilty,Im not their for that.Im there for PJ. That really left a bad taste in my mouth. They went way over the line.

    3 stars

Many a classic is played. Perfomance wise 4 1/2

Highlights are a plenty : Animal,GTF,Lukin>NFY,DAUGHTER,I AM Mine,PT,SOLAT,BLOOD ,Even Flow and Leash.
  9. When listening to all these shows, it's funny how a few misplaced songs or a couple bad performances/rants can knock a few stars off the overall rating. That's what happened to me..."Last Kiss" absolutely ruined it for me.

    Oh, nice read, Ed!
  10. I refuse to be the first to post Camden 2.
  11. It's a kinda strange case isn't it, the west memphis 3. Seeing how they got support from so many artists of different kinds. Was everyone suddenly an attorney? Only heard of it when a cd came out, and reading more on the internet. Agree with you Ed, would not have them on the stage, you will always have people who think they're guilty and people think they're innocent. Dangerous thing to do.

Jeff Soto just created a PJ Seattle print, hint hint?
  12. 05.28.06 Camden,NJ N2

Wash kicks off night 2.I always loved this rare tune, and it seems odd to me that it has never been played much.

Wash,Go,WWS,SH and Corduroy are great.Very nice flow. But Save You puts an end to this,as its an average tune at best IMO,and should not be in the lineup anymore.GTF is a classic, but Im noticing the repeats from N1.Thats 4 already.DMB try to avoid repeats, when playing multiple nights in the same city,at all costs.

The ok Army Reserve (nice toast by EV to the men and women) is followed by the ok Grievance.Im not saying the band should not play anything from Binaural or Riot Act,but the fans would much rather hear tunes from the classic 5 90's.Thats a fact.

Gone continues this rather weak run of tunes.Decent song,it should be played after a few old classics IMO.Song placement tonight is off.

Even Flow picks things up,but come grinding to a halt once again,as the band decide to play You Are.I actually like this song, but once again, too many average songs being played instead of PJ staples, like Once. I would not have been happy,as I almost went to this show.

Wishlist is now played.Song 13 in the set.Not bad.Not great, but hey,its off Yeild so.Satan's Bed follows, nice. Now we are getting somewhere.Good version.Crowd sing right on que for the "Ill never suck,Satans' dick ",classic.

Garden is fantastic, too short yes,but at this point I would have taken it,short version and all.Whipping is now busted out.Love it.Very nice run here.

Life Wasted and RVM (too long, and expected here of course) end this rather average, and at times dull main set.

    Encore 1

Not 1,but 2 new tunes for the encore and the decent newer Man of the Hour are played. Not good.Wasted Reprise is good opening the main set for me.Parachutes is a decent song.Play it mid set, maybe after a slower tune like Small Town ????

The epic, encore 1 saving Black is played. Its fantastic as always. The crowd eat it up.As they have been waiting for a classic. They get it now.GREAT VERSION.So Lonely/We Belong Together tag.I put it on repeat 4 times in a row this morning during my jog.Perfection.

The solid Crazy Mary follows, and of course, what else, its Alive as always, closing encore 1.So very predictable are PJ.

    Encore 2

Last Exit kicks things off.Very nice.A classic,it belongs here.Evolution sounds great, and the rare Glorified G is played.Solid run.Of course that doesnt last long,as Comatose is played (as always) during the second encore.

Leash is played for the third show in a row !!??!! Love it. Maybe this could have replaced Save You in the main set ?? And say Oceans and Release could have now ended the show ???

Baba O'Reily it is.Love the tune. Its played out of course.PJ (like DMB) play the same covers over and over.It gets boring for the diehards.

Yellow Ledbetter (NO WAY REALLY ???) closes, with Mike playing the Star-Spangled Banner.

I counted 12 repeats from N1.For PJ,that is alot.Very lazy of them.DMB would never do that in one city,on a 2 night stand.

    3 stars

N1 was much better IMO.But EV ruined it.

N2 = lazy, below average setlist.Weak start to encore 1,encore 2 was solid.

Highlights WASH,GO,BLACK and of course LEASH.

Sorry, but I expect more from this great band.
