He's come a long way *g. I hope you are aware how much preparation and money goes into such an equipment and actually taping a concert. Of course it's nothing compared to finding a medicine against cancer - but still he is some kind of a hero for all the non-tapers that just take recordings for granted.
The least you can do is say thank you and respect simple wishes. If you don't want to follow the wishes, at least keep the result to yourself.

In this case you certainly missed the point that the reason that caused all the bad reactions was that the "alternate source" taper obviously lied purposely so that people download his version (thatz my guess). This is what upsets me as well. If he had at least written that it's an "upgraded" version, I would have been "ok" with it, tho I would have felt a bit disappointed that he didn't show "respect" to the taper and at least asked him about it. It's kind of a netiquette you should show, even if the taper doesnt own the rights.

Thanks for the true and nice words Katja You unlike many people know how much trouble it is to get this kind of recording and be able to share for Free with the world.

    Have a good weekend.

PS:I'll send you a message soon.
  2. Can we close this thread to stop all the fighting and flaming? I don't want nuno to get his feelings hurt and then possibly not release any of his recordings anymore.. It looks like it might get that way eventually
  3. no need to close the entire topic. just stop with the "fighting and flaming", all has been said by now
  4. Yes, its not about copyright or anything. Just about human decency. So let's be grateful for what we get.

In Dutch we have a saying:

Don't look a given horse in the mouth.

Which means, don't criticise what you got for free.

I have absolutely no idea how you got from A to B in that one...
  6. Well I guess that looking a horse in the mouth is to check how 'good/healthy/etc' the horse is.

The saying says you shouldnt because it was given for free. Just be happy with what you are given.

    Stop fighting.

Love and Peace ( or else)
  8. The common folk saying "don't look a gift horse in the mouth" is taken from the era when gifting horses was common. The teeth of a horse are a good indication of the age of the animal, and it was considered rude to inspect the teeth of a gifted animal as you would one that you were purchasing. The saying is used in reference to being an ungrateful gift receiver.

    I understand it now.
