1. New Slash song.

  2. Sounds like it's just come out of 1994. Not bad although it's sounding closer to what Adler's Appetite came up with on Alive.

Does anyone think Axl is ever likely to release new music? And if so, when? Actually - let's take a poll. 2019, 2051 or never.

It will certainly be posthumously released.

That new Slash song isn't bad. Damn, I really want to see him again. At least he comes on stage on time.
  4. I've never managed to see Slash live. I've come close though, when he does a club show or arena show next time I'm getting down to see it. I love the sound of Myles Kennedy's voice as well. His last album had so many good songs on it.

If that's the case of a posthumous release I can imagine all the piano takes and industrial stuff that's just lying around unfinished. Would be incredible to hear some of that stuff. Honestly though, how hard is it to put out one album in 15 years? Apparently too hard - and yet it was a total mess in the way it was released (mistakes in the recording and the booklet). And coming on stage on time - if you're a few minutes late so be it, but two hours. Rock and roll my ass, more like inconsiderate.

For the Hall Of Fame, is it likely to be Adler or Sorum accepting? They surely can't have all the members of the band over the years - one's dead, others have been in the band maybe a year or so, others don't want to come back and god knows what's the deal with the original line-up.

On a better note (Civil War is better than Estranged):

  5. I think Adler would play one song (Welcome to the Jungle) and Sorum would play something from the UYI era. I so badly want to see that reunion happen.

Oh yeah, Myles Kennedy kicks ass. One of the best voices out there for sure.

I don't know, I prefer Estranged, but I suppose it's a matter of choice. I've never been able to get to grips with Civil War at all.
  6. It may not have aged as well as some of the others but Civil War was exciting to hear back in 1990 (a year before the "Illusions" were released) as it was the first new music (not including the cover of Knockin' On Heaven's Door) by the band since Appetite For Destruction.

Estranged is probably my favourite song off either of the UYI discs.
  7. I'd love to see a reunion, as much as I think the new line-up is great the old guys are the ones that made it happen in the first place. Just doing a few classics like Rocket Queen, Estranged, November Rain and Don't Cry. The ones people know.

Civil War has aged pretty well. I think more so, UYI2 has done better than the first one, and there are some fantastic songs on both (Locomotive, Breakdown, You Could Be Mine and Estranged of course). Today for the first time in maybe a year (since hearing it live) I listened to November Rain in full. It's a damn good song.

Also - I know this is gonna sound weird but I love My World.
  8. Assuming the band didn't go on stage TOO late and the vendors didn;t stop selling booze too early (this happened to me in 2006 - it really sucked!), the setlist the band has been playing over the past few weeks looks pretty solid.

As usual, lots from A4D (Jungle, Sweet Child, Paradise, Mr.B, Nightrain, Rocket Queen, and It's So Easy are all there). They played "You're Crazy" as well - it's position in the set leads me to believe its the Appetite version. They also play Patience and Used To Love Her from GNRLies. All the best from the Illusions albums: November Rain, Estranged, Don't Cry, Civil War, Live and Let Die, and Knockin' on Heaven's Door. Too bad no Dead Horse (a GREAT song). I'm not much of a fan of Chinese Democracy but at least they played the stronger/listenable tracks from that album.

I'd see them again, I suppose - preferably with Slash, Duff, and Izzy, of course.

I've always been a fan of Locomotive and Breakdown, too. They never really gave them a chance on stage, which is a damn shame.

I had forgotten about You Could Be Mine. I suppose that ending is a bit tough for Axl nowadays.
  10. I couldn't even take a beer into the venue. 'There's a risk that you may throw it'. Dude, for what I paid, I ain't throwing nothing!!!

You're Crazy is the Appetite version...essentially adding Shackler's Revenge, Estranged and Civil War and taking out the AC/DC covers (Riff Raff, Rosie), it's the same setlist from 2010 - that I saw. They're still doing You Could Be Mine as recent as Rock In Rio from last year, but it's that voice....sometimes it sounds terrible, all high-pitched, and other nights it's incredible.

I love Chinese Democracy, which had they been playing no songs from it I would have been disappointed - of course I wanted to see the standards but like 360, you want the older stuff but you might enjoy the new too. Because I know it's not a true Guns album but it has so many layers and so many things about it that you don't hear on one listen.

Edit: Estranged just came on shuffle. Seriously!

Rocket Queen with Steven Adler would make me die a happy man. He really kicks ass in that song; he gives it that groovy feeling. I always think that it's a shame that Steven Adler got so into drugs that it led to his departure. He's a great drummer.

November Rain is a beautiful song, I listened to it a couple of weeks ago.

I hate My World - it completely ruins Use Your Illusion II for me.

  12. and with whom on the drums?
a little easy poll then .. preferred drummers?
    A- Steven Adler
    B- Matt Sorum
C- Axl N Roses drummers (i don't even remember their names)
    D- i don't mind

    (Estranged is probably their Streets)
