    not necessarily .... look at the sales of the 3 remasters. I read somewhere that none of the 3 remasters sold more than 2,000 units in the UK.

    As far as I know, Milan was intended to be a full open air concert dvd but due to technical problems during some songs they decided to only take some for a bonus dvd.


    As for Party Girl/Chicago .... my guess (!) is that the girl's play wasn't that good so they decided against it (if you know what I mean).

    Bonus crappy CD? Pretty cynical and probably wrong of you.

    As many have said a million times:
    1) The CD's up to Rattle and Hum were not as good as they should have been. The original CD's were not made from the original masters but from copies.
    2) The Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab version prove this - as those ARE good and were made from the original masters.
    3) Many fans are glad to have cleaner/better versions of the CDs. And many are more than happy to shell out for the deluxe to have the bonus material.
    4) And most important - you don't have to f*&^ing buy them if you don't want, or insist they are 'selling out' or 'fleecing fans' or whatever nonsense you want to claim.

    FACT: They are out there for those that wish to buy them. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head. And if you don't want to buy them, think they are ripping you off or just want to bitch -- you don't have to buy them.

    It isn't crappy, but it wasn't really hard work for the remaster-people....They just put on some live tracks and some unreleased work....
    They got a lot of money for something which isn't really hard work I think....

  7. If U2 didn't put them out, some would complain "WHY isn't this, that or the other available" or "why have U2 not done like this, that or the other band and cleaned up the recordings and made a deluxe package with extra stuff"?

    U2 are giving the fans an opportunity to get the things that many want. And we can choose yes or no with our purchasing power - as to iff we want it or not.

    But I may need to get just the cd too, for my boxset. Which hasn't arrived yet
  10. Do we really need a remaster of a live CD? Maybe the five tracks and added bonuses are good for the video, but the album?

    If it's some extra tracks (which it isn't from NME's article above) then that's great and I'm all for it - but if it's to improve the sound, forget it. You can only record live once and what you get is what you get. I won't be buying the remastered CD at all, the video, I definitely will - not for a few extra live tracks which are probably (more like will be) edited anyway.

    What's next to be remastered - Wide Awake In America or Rattle and Hum?

    it will be the same format as the Boy, War and October deluxes. Thats all that will fit into the space that remains in the box

    My guess would be that "The Unforgettable Fire" (album) would be next to be remastered and that "Wide Awake..." would be included with the bonus for that Deluxe Set as 3 of the 4 tunes on WAIA were B-Sides to "The Unforgettable Fire" (single),

    But judging by your post, it appears that your post was more rhetorical and cynical than a genuine question.

    I could go on... point by point... but the short answer is - YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT.

    Of course, if U2 didn't remaster the albums, there would be comments about them NOT having the best quality version out there. And if they didn't make the 'bonus' material available, others would complain as to WHY hasn't U2 released these things.

    How do I know this? I've read various forums over the years and what U2 are doing with the remasters are EXACTLY what many fans have begged for - quality remasters, nice updated packaging and many of the vinyl B-sides on CD - finally.
