1. Kind of hesitant at first but after listening to it few more times very awesome. Gonna turn some heads around the world again. Cant wait for the rest.
  2. Great drums.

    Awesome guitar.

Some fantastic lyrics and decent singing.

    Thumping bassline.

    Multi-layered and swirling.

I have a similar feeling to that when The Fly was first played. Not that I'm comparing the songs, but, just, different. So much more to it than Vertigo or Elevation. I first thought of Mofo actually.

    Like it. A lot.
  3. Guitar:

Very cool. Gives you the feeling that you are melting in a room full of lava lamps .

    Drums:

I love Larry's intro, it'll be awesome live.

    Bass:

I never thought that I would dance to a rock song like this one. He's rocking throughout the song.

    Vocals:

Bono's pipes have done some amazing stuff over the past few years. I love it! Edge's parts are really good too, I love the "You don't know how beautiful you are.." parts. Finally, Bono's screams! Awesome!!!!!!!!

    Overall:

Excellent first single, I knew they wouldn't let us down. My new favorite song!
  4. I bought my first U2 album on december'83, The War album. It's fair to say that their music is a significant part of my life. I grew up with them as I am from their generation. I can understand the twists and shouts that they are up to.
Just heard "Boots" a few times and loved it. Makes more sense to me than ATYCLB did.
Fantastic tune. Amazing chorus, it shows artistic maturity to write that chorus.
I don't need to listen NLOTH to agree with the band, that this might be their best album ever.
And I am relieved that this is not Vertigo part2. It's fresh and rocks the walls down.
That's my perception of it and I'm REALLY happy.
    Peace.
  5. I'd say it's something in between Discotheque and Vertigo.

The main guitar riff is a killer. A few short guitar fills sound nostalgically like Edge's old sound. The bass is too synthesized for me. Larry used at least three different snare drum sounds - not all sound equally great to my ears, I prefer a more natural drum sound. The melody in the "You don't know" part sounds probably a little moroccan, but sadly not too inspired. The song doesn't impress me much; if I weren't a U2 fan already I wouldn't become one after hearing it. Not on the same brilliant level as Streets, Sunday and Bad. Not even on the same level as Beautiful Day, Vertigo and Window in the Skies - at least not to me.

I kind of compare it im my mind to the former "preview singles" Numb and Desire in the way that they were very different from the upcoming album. I remember that after first hearing these songs I had a similar feeling to what I feel right now. But maybe it's a grower, like some said. Numb and Desire were growers, too.

    Still curious

    Alex
  6. Guitar:
Opening Riff: cool (but reminds me of Discotheque)
During Chorus (''..you don't know how beautiful...''): A bit disappointing (reminds me of Fast Cars)
During Bridge: now that sounds fucking nice

Drums: I guess they're alright. Not feeling the snare.

    Bass: Awesome

Vocals: They're definitely good! (the lyrics are fun to read )

Overall: I'm not blown away, but I don't hate it either. I was really expecting/hoping the guitar would be louder in the bridge/breakdown. I mean now its a bit in the background, don't you guys think. But like everyone said this a grower. Theres definitely a lot going on, maybe by time the album comes out i'll love it.

But for now, i give it 6.5/10
  7. woooow i love it ....
it sounds a bit like fast cars .....
and in the beginning like discotheque ....and at the and also (same guitar sound )
    great guitars /bass and drums
and bono's voice is also great .....
  8. I think this song has more power than Vertigo and also more potential.
    It´s very 21st century!!!

    7,5/10 from me
  9. It grows with every another listen.

Thank god it's nothing like Vertigo or BD, it's very different from anything they've done before. It's fun, it rocks, it makes you dance, sing along, it's so fresh.

Too bad Edges loud guitar at the end doesn't last longer.

    5/5

P.S. i hated Fast Cars, but this is awesome.
  10. ok, so anyone has taken the time to think about what the lyrics mean???
'cause, I really can't get the message...
any suggestions yet or is it too early????
  11. Well, after listening it more than 25 times it's time to post in here.

    My thoughts too.

I didn't love the "how beautiful you are" stuff, and I still don't love it, but it's starting to grow om me. However it will not be my favorite part of the song. I love the new stuff, the differences versus older singles and the guitar and drums kick some asses. Bass too by the way, only Bono sounds not very strong at some points. But I'll take it for granted, great start. Promising.

Please discuss that in the other GOYB topic, this one only is for reviews.
