1. Great Song with the chorus is the main amazing thing in this song along with Edge's Solo at the end of the song (no wonder why he's the greatest guitarist in the world)

and it has a taste of "Vertigo" and " Fast Cars"
  2. I said right from the outset (in the OMG topic just after it aired) that it's not an instant hit with me and that remains.

I've been listening to it all day today hoping to really love it.

But while I don't think it's a bad track, it's not brilliant either and I don't think it will be elevated to the upper echelons of the U2 canon.

It's got some really brilliant aspects to it - the explosive guitar riffs, the tortured lyrics, the Eno-esque electronic undertones but it's just not good enough as a first single in my book.

I find Vertigo for its simplicity and raw energy and Beautiful Day for its sentiment a little more appealing right now.

I can't knock the guys for trying. It's really out there and I applaud them for that but there's parts to it that just don't work.

The drawn out 'get me in the sound' bit is bordering on the annoying, the 'boots' lyrics are down in the creative stakes. I'll keep working on this song though to see if it's a genuine grower.

I really like 'the you don't know' parts and Edge on it though. I think the originality of it bodes very well for the album. Next stop - the B-side next month.
  3. Having listened with headphones last night, there are hidden layers that I just hadn't picked up on radio or my laptop.

Growing in a positive way. Still unsure about the 'Let Me Hear The Sound' bit. Agree, however, that it will kick live.
  4. It has grown on me too...I get used to it.
  5. Actually with my Sennheiser In-Ear I don't like it as much as when I hear it loud enough out my boxes...
  6. I was just wondering if any of you read any reviews of the singel in your country, from newspapers etc.?
I seen two so far, from two of Sweden´s biggest newspapers, and they basically "hate" the single
Meanwhile I dont think its their greatest song by far, its not THAT bad lke one of the journalist put it "general crap"
I may be young, but the whole sexy boots line is not "sexy" in my ears, at least not for men in their age to be singin about
I just hope that "stronger songs" will surface
Its a grower tough, I think it requirs some time
But I also understand ppl that don´t like the song
Its an ok song, not great
Im still very confident that we haven´t seen all, the best is yet to come
Their for I wonder, why they put this song out as first single, to promote the album?
I can only speak from what I heard from the "beach clips" and like I stated then, I state now
This were the weakest of the 4 clips

Hmm I haven't seen anything in the Dutch press actually...

  8. Ok, I was just interested too see what the rest of the world thinks about this single
  9. My friends who like U2 in general don't like it, pity. I think they have to get used to the song... They liked Vertigo the first time they heard it and this is a complete different song...
  10. they aren't gonna make any new fans with this song and it's not really exciting the exisying fan base that much.

Confident that the album will deliver though.

It is, however lyric wise it is really poor
Bono can DO better then that, Im not too fond of the "candy floss ice cream, ghost" lines
