1. For me, NLOTH is a blow - up there with JT & AB
  2. I'm not a native English speaker, so I have difficulties in discerning good from mediocre lyrics - and I haven't yet taken time to read them all and think about them. So I will say nothing to this subject.

But I think we do have good album musically. It's got diversity, it's got an album feel, it's mostly quite catchy, and it's got some sonic depth. It's somewhere in the middle between JT and AB without being as impressingly masterful - but not too far behind.

    Not disappointed at all.

Gonna give it a few more spins...

    Alex
  3. No. No disappointment at all. From the first listen (yesterday 12:00 AM) to the last one (today, right now), I've loved the album as a whole and most of the songs as individuals. Musically it's very strong, just some weak points, and lyrically it's good to very good (MOS and COL are awesome). THe only thing I dislike a bit is Bono, he just doesn't feel right, he sings too high too often, and seems tired sometimes, but overall he's quite good. Adam and Larry are specially great, and Edge is, as usual, from another planet&age.

Well, that sentence is amazing IMO. Have you ever heard of the humanitarian help carried by soldiers on some countries? They go there with tanks and rifles, but then they give oranges and milk for free... It's awesome in my opinion.

I agree that Bono is the weak link on the album, he is too prone to excess and melodrama, with all the self indulgent ohhhs etc.

He should go back and listen to AB and see what he's doing wrong. His lyrics have also become rather inconsistent in recent times, you can have one great lyric followed by a shocker.
  5. can't tell by now how the new album sounds 'cause i didn't listen. hope the music is much better than the cover. the cover is a BIG SHIT !!!

I HAVE NEVER HEARD AS MUCH GARBAGE IN MY LIFE!!!! This is the best album since JT.
  7. It's potentially a very good album; expansive, idealistic, experimental, challenging, interesting, progressive...all those things.

Come on, it's been out for less than 48 hours and people are already judging? Judge in three months. Certainly, it's up to you what you'd compare it to, and fair game if you don't think it's a worthwhile effort or you think it's great - but give it a little time.

It's definitely not reinvented rock 'n roll again, but it has reinvented U2 and sure, they'll lose fans and gain some, but that's to be expected with an album like this. The same with All That You Can't Leave Behind, the same with the entire 1990s, but maybe a lot of new people will like this effort.

  8. Are you talking about some of the lyrics? then yes.

I also think you are forgetting that there was a little album called AB inbetween.
  9. people who r terribly dissapointed, why so? how many times have u listened, r there any songs u like at all?

No, he's referring to your opinion.

Why should AB be everyone's favorite? It's not. I mean, it's mine, but I don't think it should be everyone's.

And I'm not disappointed a bit with new record, it's better than I could ever expect.

    power to da man
  12. Achtung Baby is not that great an album to me and would definitely not come up in a list of my favourites. It's all your opinion, and that's what matters.

Isn't that what we're discussing here?
