Then remember all the fans like me who used to be there and loved U2 ade replaced with the
17 year old punks who wouldn't know good music if it slapped them in the face.
There are many more U2 former fans than there are new fans so if you want your precious
U2 to continue making records and touring you better hope they listen to the people who made them the stars they are today. We are fed up with them and now are hoping to see them retire

ahahahahaa-someone ban this fucker, isn't that what fascists do, hheister?

I think U2 are happy to replace old farts like U2 with young blood like these '17 year old punks'. Us young punks have more years left in us to keep gigging and buying U2 albums. I feel your pain dude and im happy to see you suffer.

    Post of the topic.
  4. did hheister leave.........
  5. Singles are generally released to get exposure and radio-play - from what I gather, GOYB is one of the most radio-friendly songs on the album in so far as it's the most accessible poppy tune (bar I'll Go Crazy... from what I'm picking up). Sometimes their singles are their best songs though - look at JT; WTSHNN, ISHFWILF, WOWY - 3 songs worthy of being considered some of the greatest songs ever released. Think Achtung Baby - admittedly, I think there's argument to suggest that at least 11 of the 12 songs could have been choices for singles, but look at One; another contender for greatest song ever written, indeed, it's been voted similarly in musical polls over the years.

However, I'm not too fussed by singles because it's the album I'm interested in. It's nice to be able to hear a song by one's favourite artist(s) on the radio but at the same time, you don't have to listen to the radio or watch the TV when you've got the music to hand anyway.
  6. No band would release a single which is not a radio-friendly song because then it would end up as a failure. Moment of Surrender as a single? Oh come on, it might be one of the biggest flops of the band, no matter how brilliant the song is on the album.

My oh my. And I thought I can't behave myself at times....Having your own opinion is nice, but, please, be assertive. Ever heard of that word?

And about those "17 year old punks who wouldn't know good music if it slapped them in the face"......As a part off the new generation of fans, I feel badly insulted. I really wonder what you think of other people at our age who listen to "artists" like Rihanna or Jonas Brothers when you say we don't know good music and have a terrible music taste.
  7. I follow the band since 1984 and I hear those statements ever since: "U2 are not what they were, we old fans demand to be pleased instead of these young kids they attract nowadays."

    - Joshua Tree was criticized by "old fans" for sounding different than War.
    - Achtung Baby was criticized by "old fans" for sounding different than Joshua Tree.
    - Pop was criticized by "old fans" for sounding different than either Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby.
    - ATYCLB was criticized by "old fans" for sounding different than either War, Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby and Pop.
    - HTDAAB was critizized by "old fans" for sounding different than either War, Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby and Pop.

So what? Has the band's audience grown or shrunk? For every "old fan" that left a "young fan" stepped in gladly. Considering the loss by music piracy the new albums sell as well as the old ones did. Their tours cash in even more. So they must have done something right. And even if the PopMart tour wasn't so well received in the US - the Elevation and Vertigo tours were very successful.

Today "old fans" stand up and criticize NLOTH for sounding different than either War, ATYCLB and HTDAAB. How do you think the story will continue?
