1. Who cares for Grammy's anyway...
  2. Great single, glad that they made it, but I wonder how it would compare to Breathe.

  3. I do, when ur fav band is one of the most despised in the world, you need all the ammo you can get.

Unfavourably, Breathe is way better than Magnificent.
  4. You don't like Breathe, Lyndon? What's wrong with it?

Magnificent won't be remembered as a highlight in U2's career for this particular record, for me.

I don't understand, I said Breathe would have made a better single choice than Magnificent.

I personally like the song, either it or Unknown Caller is the best song on NLOTH.
  6. Ah my mistake. On choice of single, the live version is alright but a standalone one with the full version of Breathe, not the edit, would go down a treat. And do what AC/DC did, include two other album songs or outtakes.

  7. That's assuming the people against whom you need said ammunition equally place a lot of emphasis on Grammy nominations and wins - hell, surely the fact that U2 have won 22 Grammys is more than enough 'ammo' if you place a lot of value of such stats.? You could also simply make the point that music is personal and everyone has a different take on it, hence why you like U2 and others like whatever they like.

Not everyone thinks Grammy's mean anything, but it helps, and it's hard to downplay 22 grammy wins.

And the 'personal taste' argument doesn't help determine who's right or wrong. And it doesn't work on metal heads/ headbangers etc.

But I do like that U2 has a limited bunch of fans, rather than being mainstream idols.
  9. The UK Edit has the full solo.
  10. Does it really?
I haven't heard anything on our radio yet... No GOYB, no Magnificent... I wonder if U2 actually exists in Spain
  11. They do within a month, I'm sure

Fair points both I completely empathise seeing as I'm often in the same argument, but over time it's come to pass that people just accept that I like U2 and 'there's nothing [they] can throw at me that I haven't already heard'. Maybe it'll give you a bit of hope lol, I dunno. I guess it depends what the line of argument actually is, but we're arguably going a bit OT so I guess we should move over to another thread
