1. Just got back home to London after flying in from Barcelona this morning.

Will post a full review later - just to say having been to over 30 U2 shows since 1989 this was an excellent start to the tour - the set will blow people away when you see it live - it really works seeing the whole stadium 360 going mental and some of the lighting effects are amazing - especially for COBL.

Having been to Barcelona on the last tour did not go for GA this time, had excellent seats on level 2 row 5 opposite the middle for the stage, Edges side - the stage setup is excellent - doubt there will be a bad seat in the house anywhere they play.

Very quick initial thoughts - was not keen on Breathe/NLOTH start - bit weak I thought - Magnificent was the first song that really got the crowd into it. Great to hear TUF and Ultraviolet.

Unknown Caller a surprising highlight for me - not overly keen on the album version but this one reminded me of how Love and Peace came to life in the last tour.

Pride seemed tired and to be honest could do with a rest, Streets lacked the intensity of the Elevation era Streets - think we were spoiled with that version to be honest.

Overall considering it was the first show I was more than happy and they will only get stronger - next for me, 3 nights in Dublin

By the way does anyone know what the song was on the PA immediately before U2 took the stage?

Dieder, I was about to change my avatar to exactly what your avatar is! I cropped it and everything, weird!

Haha we had that before. And that pic of the space ship is my desktop as well.

Plenty available there...

All in all, it was nice to see the band back on stage after 4 years. This was certainly the first and last time that I went to an opening night, though... way too much money for a mediocre show.

Most opening nights suffer from mock ups and such..but you know that too. I hope they change the setlist a bit though. Pride and Boots..get them out. More 90's would be welcome.
  4. No video of Crazy Tonight and Boots? I'm desperately wanting to see them.

Yep, it's clear that not everything works smoothly on the first night. But then again, if someones pays 150 bucks for a ticket they could expect a good show...
I for one don't have a problem with mock ups, wrong notes and stuff, though. Also the typical U2 pathos is bearable during an opening gig.
The setlist is the major disappointment. But that's highly subjective and my personal bad luck.

Did you enjoy Ultraviolet by the way? The setlist itself is Vertigo-tour with NLOTH-songs and UV/TUF. So it's slightly better than Vertigo, but no-way near Zoo TV.

It was the first time in sixteen years that I saw them playing one of their best songs, so I surely enjoyed UV. I didn't read anything about the rehearsals, so I was pumped as hell to hear it. The sound was a little off, I guess. so I need to listen to a recording to fairly judge it but it sounded quite good.

I'm still waiting for 'A Day Without Me', though.

Edit: And I loved how they try to copy Coldplay by playing a "techno" remix.

    I can imagine..

A Day Without Me..yes, the list could go on if I had to decide. Who knows..who would have thought they'd bring back UV.

Vertigo tour setlist? No Love and Peace, no Bullet, no Miss Sarajevo which were probably the most important songs in the set-lists...

  10. Here you are

    Crazy Video

  11. Yeah enjoying himself? Who'd have thought it! only kidding fella

That's what I was thinking, actually, when I heard about this remix stuff...but then again someone's bound to say 'well Coldplay were copying U2 after they remixed Lemon during PopMart Chris Martin should be shot Coldplay are fucking copycats' bla bla and then no doubt someone else will say both were copying someone else who thought it up way before then. 'Tis generally what happens when people think someone has hit upon what they all consider to be a good idea, they embrace it...
