  2. A wish U2 was playing longer setlists....23-24 instead of 22 now... and with a little bit more songs to vary.... about 5... I mean, a little bit less than 40 different songs played.... that´s not a lot...

    Let´s see some facts:

    Joshua Tree - 44 songs in 109 concerts
    obs: third leg - 36 songs in 50 concerts
    Lovetown - 38 songs played in 47 concerts
    Zootv - 54 songs in 158 concerts
    obs: outside broadcast leg had 43 songs in 47 concerts
    Popmart - 33 songs in 94 concerts
    obs: third leg - 27 songs in 32 concerts
    Elevation - 51 songs in 113 concerts
    obs: First Leg - 36 songs in 50 concerts
    Vertigo - 60 songs in 132 concerts
    obs: third leg - 48 songs in 50 concerts
    U2360 - 37 songs in 39 concerts

    Conclusion: The tours that had most rotation were Vertigo, Elevation and ZooTV. However, for the number of concerts so far, u2360 is in fourth place after ZooTv, Lovetown and Vertigo. For the same amount of concerts, independent of the leg, U2360 is doing well based on estatistic. The problem is that you have to consider that the later the tour is, the more material and hits they have, which means that if the number of songs in total don´t vary as much, probably the number of die-hard fans´favorites are decreasing. For exemple, lets just say that in Joshua Tree they played 30 songs in 40 concerts and lets hipothesize that U2360 has the same estatistics, 30 songs in 40 concerts. But, in the Joshua Tree U2 had a catalogue half the size that it has now. So, in JT tour U2 played 15 fan favorites and 15 greatest hits. If they are to chose the same number of songs in total now, they most likely will have something like 25 greatest hits and 5 true fans favorites. That´s why many people are complaining and it is hard to argue based on estatistics.... This is how I see it...

    However, 360 has only been 2 legs so far and the past shows us that the later legs have definitely more variation then early legs...

    I agree... it´s because in my mind it is kind of two different tours... because next year we´ll probably have new material and different setlist... like u2360 1 and 2... same that happened with zooropa legs... they are different.... but i totally agree with you. The goal was to show that estatistics are not that important...
  5. Anyone else think they're spending too much time re-arranging the new tracks and not enough time continuing the renewal?

    Do they believe Electrical Storm was a failed experiment?

    Will there ever be a different encore?

    Have they given up on Pop completely?

    Is Elevation now entrenched?

    Sorry if there are too many questions and not enough answers. But these have been on my mind during the second leg.


  6. the only reason they are re-arranging the new tracks is because the American audience just can't get into them or appreciate them. 4 new songs in a row in America means a very slow burning show

    I still contend that no matter what setlist they come up, some are going to say its not radical enough and others are going to say it hasn't got enough classics.

    One song that hadn't been played for 16 years (UV), one song that hadn't been played for nearly 20 (UF), two songs hadn't been played at all (YBR, ES) and a couple of old-school regulars dropped completely, only appearing sporadically or being phased out (BTBS, NYD, Pride, IWF). What is so boring about this?

    While I have my own beefs namely Elevation, SBS and the first quartet being stuff around, U2 have demonstrated diversity. Your Blue Room was a massively bold decision, given most people in the audience wouldn't have heard this before.

    I say keep it up guys!


    I agree- no matter what the band play people are never happy. let's be honest - American audiences aren't as receptive to change - they prefer the classics. The new songs and Electrical Storm, etc were received better by the European audience. If I had a choice I would get them to drop Elevation, SBS and Walk On and add Lemon, Seconds and White As Snow!!!
