    Gotta agree, the setlist nowadays is far from creative.

  4. I hate to sound a bit negative, but in my opinion this tour, a part from 2-3 songs, U2 has been playing it way too safe. They need that criticism again, because right now, with the way things are going they think everything is perfect and doesn't need shaking up - at least that what it seems like from the very little variation in the US setlists...Have U2 got lazy?

OK,my turn to vent and rant.I think the band have actually taken a risk on the North American leg.Your Blue Room has been played in America,NOT Europe.I would say 75%,maybe more,had no clue what song they were playing at my show (09.23.09) I dont know why the European fans love to knock the American audiences.Whats the deal with that???Are you guys jealous because the band loves to play here twice as much as Europe???They even write songs about NYC(Blinding Lights,NY,Angel Of Harlem).But,I think one of many problems with this tour is ,when playing stadiums in America,if you dont have a good seat,you are screwed.I was fortunate to have good seats for both shows at Giants Stadium.But the people sitting a mile away did not feel included.Some have even said the band have "dropped"songs here in America.Well,FYI Uknown Caller is the only new song that was dropped.Breathe was not played night 2 in Foxboro,but has been the opener for ever show since.NLOTH was left out for only one night as well and has been in the setlist since.UC is back in the setlist,I hope for the purpose of being broadcast on you tube.You can say this about the American audience.We are used to seeing the band live.They played Madison Square Garden 8 times in 2005.They dont even play that many nights in Ireland.I understand the European fans love the stadium events.I was at the Oasis show in the summer of 2000.That was insane.But,I prefer to see the band or any band ,in an arena.A stadium show here in America is like an event.Not a rock concert.I dont need to see a 250 foot claw,or a 50 foot lemon.I just want to hear the songs from the best band in the last 30 years.

    Likewise ES was played in Europe, and not America.

    It probably used to be envy but I don't think too many people would swap the set lists in Europe for the shows being put on now. The reason American audiences are taking some abuse here is because they don't seem to differentiate between going to a concert and going to the cinema.

    I'm repeating what others have said but for the first time since ZooTV U2 started their gigs off with 4 songs from the new album. The seemed to like the balance in Europe but the wooden reaction from American audiences resulted in them changing it. Regardless of whether its in a stadium or arena, the general attitude of the fans, if you can call them that, appears to be the same.

    Again though I'm going back to the DVD's.

    Wooden reaction from American audiences? I havent heard the last few shows from the N.American leg,but I can tell you from being at 2 shows from this tour ,at Giants Stadium,the fans were very into it.If the band would just release a proper recording from any NYC show,you can hear and see how REAL fans are with U2.The band love playing here in my city.They have performed here MORE than any other city in the world.Period.And they are a European band.The band played for 8 nights at MSG in 2005.The crowds were fantastic.The bootlegs that I have downloaded from Chicago,Boston and Landover,the crowd sounded great.I did not attend those shows,but they sounded great.It appears that the European fans gave Electrical Storm a wooden reaction,it was played only 3 times,and dropped.Your Blue Room was more of a risk to play at an American stadium show IMO.Download Giants Stadium from this tour,the Philly show from 06.12.01,and the NJ show from 06.22.01 and MSG 10.07.05.I attended those shows,the crowds were insane.Again,I do not understand why the band do not release at least a cd ,from one of their great shows from NYC.Maybe 10.24.01???That idiot director,Hamish,even said on the Boston dvd,that they should have released and recorded the NYC shows.It appears to me that the European fans just like to knock the American fans.I have a great recording from the Paris show,07.12.09.The fans did not impress me.They only sing during the hits.Not with all the songs.Dare I say,this is not a good showing for a European audience.How can you blast the Rose Bowl gig,BEFORE it has even happened?????Lets see how 100,000 Californians do first.I think the band should have filmed the Giants Stadium shows.Real fans,from a great city.The band even go out of their way and write songs about New York.I guess thats perplexing to the Europeans.Believe me,if we "sucked" or were "wooden",or stood there "eating hot dogs",the band would not play here.Simple as that.Unlike most of you in this forum,I have been to Europe and have attended many concerts in England and Spain.The fans in Europe are great,but so are the fans here in New York.Obviously,the band agree.The overal number of times the band have played New York say it all.
