1. Right, I haven't been to a Coldplay concert, so I can't really tell. But it seems to me that U2 are bigger live, and that this is in part because Bono is more charismatic as a frontman. But I may well be wrong.

yeah, i was just referring to the coldplay discussion....not sure why i check this for news anymore (half joking)

U2's sound is much more powerful (both live and studio), aside of Bono's skills as a frontman.

    PS. Slightly off topic, huh?

I'd agree if we were talking about the U2 of yester-year....but this last album? Not so much IMO.
  5. From NLOTH, only Magnificent and Crazy Tonight are surpassed by Violet Hill, Lovers In Japan and Cemeteries of London. GOYB maybe is worst than Viva La Vida (the song) too. The rest of NLOTH is better than the rest of Viva La Vida (album).

Really don't want to turn this into another Coldplay vs. U2 topic (WAY too many of those around here), but I guess I'm a little confused by the point you're trying to make. Are you praising or criticizing Magnificent and Crazy Toinght?

Personally, I'd rather listen to VLV straight through over NLOTH. And as far as live performances and atmosphere goes, I'd make the argument that the best part of the Coldplay show (Lovers in Japan) was much more interesting than the best part of the U2 show (Crazy Tonight). Just because the band walks around the catwalk doesn't make for a better moment in the show. Just my thoughts....

    You be the judge:

  7. I was trying to say that VLV has three or four songs that are better than the average of NLOTH. I also enjoy listening to VLV all throughout than listening to NLOTH, but that's becase VLV was thought and recorded (almost) as a concept album, with songs linked both in musical and meaning senses...... NLOTH is just a poor collection of some great songs. That's why I listen to VLV all in a row, but I don't do that with NLOTH.

PS. I don't think that Crazy was the best part of the U2 album/show... Do you really?

Gotcha. I can agree with those points on NLOTH vs. VLV

I thought that was the general consensus, about Crazy Tonight being the best part of the show....maybe not? For me personally, it was hearing Unforgettable Fire again.

No way... they're not the Black Eyed Peas, fans aren't clamouring to watch U2 perform house music, Ultraviolet, MoS, UC, Breathe etc. were the show highlights. Crazy Tonight was more an interest piece

VLV was a great album, lots of fantastic pop tunes, ie. LiTii, Lost, VLV, Lovers In Japan, Violet Hill all of which were better than similar songs from NLOTH i.e GOYB, SUC, Crazy Tonight.

U2 could learn a thing or two from CP on how to write a hit single.

Where do people get off that LiT2 was better than LiT1?

  11. LOL. the COBL-esque lyrics. closing the shows with it was genius. But LiT1 doesnt climax to me as much, when i saw them i was just waiting for chris to start singing cuz of how it opened the show. IMO of course
