    I dunno, new Bono seems a bit lazy - at least when it comes to songwriting. I was watching R&H (particularly the scene where Bono is reading the lyrics to WLCTT to BB King) and it just reminded me how different his songwriting was back then as compared to now.

    It's much more clunky and not as elegant, even songs like MoS or UC which have good lyrics will have some hammy line like "ATM machine" which detracts from the song.

    Anyone else notice this? It started around the ATYCLB era and is everywhere by the time HTDAAB rolled around.

    Maybe it's just middle age or he's given up being perfectionist in his lyric writing like he was in the 80s/90s.

    But as it is now, while it doesn't really affect their rock/pop tunes (like Crazy Tonight etc.) it willl somewhat hamper any attempts at a Zooropa like album.

    The new edition of Rolling Stone (dated June 30) includes a short article previewing the now-postponed North American U2 360 tour. The article says this about U2's current album situation:

    Since wrapping up the 2009 leg in October, the band has been in the studio working on three albums simultaneously: Songs of Ascent, a second volume from the sessions for last year's No Line On The Horizon; the score from the Broadway musical Spiderman; and a set of entirely new songs.

    This is not the first time that there's been talk of three album projects, but in the previous reports, the third project was said to be old material from the Rick Rubin sessions in 2006. The above specifically refers to "entirely new songs." We've updated our New U2 album page, accordingly.

  11. This talk is really frustrating. In a few months one of the band will be quoted that it's really new and experimental and that it's really gonna be their best ever. For them to do something they have to lose Brian Eno, doesnt matter how good he's been, he's now better suitable for Coldplay. Bring in Flood
