to playing a show chock full of original tunes

Since we're doing mostly parties, we're trying to cater to a lot of different tastes while still being able to just get out there and play. I'd rather play other peoples' stuff since we're only together for another 2 months, and I'd rather be playing and have people interested than working towards getting people intrigued only to lose them so soon.

    Tunes for our upcoming shows-

    Surrender: Cheap Trick
    Simple Pages: Weezer
    Break on Through: The Doors
I Fought the Law: Green Day (I know it's a Bobby Fuller tune, but we're doing this version)
Ring of Fire: Social Distortion (Same; we cover this cover)
    Beautiful Day: U2
No Line on the Horizon: U2 (hopefully; either this or potentially Streets)
Between the Lines: Stone Temple Pilots
Search and Destroy: Iggy and the Stooges
All Day and All Night: The Kinks

Thanks! We always say "We should cover this..." but whenever we're in rehearsal or whatever, we always completely forget to practice a cover, we work on our own things. Which is good, I guess. I feel really good about playing the completely original set, especially because we got great feedback.

That's too bad that you only have another two months, but at least you'll be able to entertain people for a little while. This performance experience will only better you.

More great songs added to the rep. Good luck with No Line or Streets!
  2. Thanks Nick!

I'm in a frustrating period where song titles and music is coming easier than before, but the lyrics just won't really come out the way I feel about them. Which is terribly frustrating, because it used to be the EXACT opposite. Perhaps I dig up some old lyrics that never made it to the guitar and try to rework them to these melodies.

I went through the same thing during last summer. I actually filled a page with just song titles, but every time that I tried to write lyrics, they were just awful. A few months ago, I found that paper and tried again. As a result, I have God's Hiatus and Universe now. Unfortunately, I have lost that paper again, so I have a few songs started off, but w/o titles.

Luckily, the music is still coming with ease. Rob and I together have at least fifteen things that could become songs.
  4. My band will start rehearsing in exactly a 10 days from now when we get in winter break here in Brazil. We will get ready for a highschool music festival in the end of August. Our setlist is this for now:

    1. Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
    2. Wet Sand - Red Hot Chilli Peppers
3- Don´t Look Back in Anger - Oasis
    4. Death Will Never Conquer - Coldplay
    5. One - U2
    6. Pais e Filhos - Legião Urbana (Brazilian band, worth a listen)
    7. Airbag (Acoustic) - Radiohead

We might have to cut two of them in order to fit the limit time of 30-35 minutes per band

Here are some titles of songs we wrote (they are mostly rough and unfinished songs):

In Portuguese: Os outros (strangers), O Sol e a Lua (The Sun and the Moon), De novo (again) and Cada Vez Mais Perto (Closer)

In English: Fade Away, Chinese Rock, The Two Wolves and Exit

That´s it! I also would like to express how much I admire everyone´s talen here!
  5. That's an absolutely fantastic set, is there any comparison to your Airbag cover on Youtube? I'd love to hear that acoustically.

  6. It´s something like this... quite nice

  7. If that set from before is your running order, this is an ingenious closer. Perfectly haunting and somehow final enough to BRILLIANTLY close a show. I've always been fascinated by creating setlists, and reading other bands', and predicting the flow of a show, and just the overall effect that the perfect set has on a show...and this closer is just...it has me in awe of what it could do with the right performance and the right audience.

Good luck with it, I really really hope it goes over well. It's fantastic this way.

thanx, u got the idea, we wanted something this way. The running order took awhile to get to... we had to narrow down from 10 and we wanted to open energetic and go gradually slower till it gets haunting and touching. I´ll see how it goes after rehearsals we will probably get some studo quality demos in late july and i´ll upload them. Thanx for the support everyone once again. U got me even more hyped!
