    Thanks! Yes lol, I always have either a bird's chirp or a dog's bark. How the camera picks up my birds' chirping is astounding; either the camera is extremely sensitive to high pitched chirps, or my hallway has incredible acoustics. The birds are located in my kitchen area, which is separated from my room by an eight foot long hallway. lol

    Ahhhhhhh I get you know fella now I like that comparison even more! Interesting that it made you think of a sunrise when I always had this core idea of watching a sunset and basically chasing it as far as you could go, without a care in the world and a general desire to make a fist of everything life throws at you. But hey, that's the beauty of music, inspires different ideas and emotions in everyone I'm just glad it seems to be a positive one

    And yeah, I'm lucky if I get through a session of recording without being interrupted by our dogs barking or the like; the traditional backdrop is traffic going past the front windows though, I think you can probably hear a few cars passing by on the RTSS/SR recording actually lol...the beauty of amateur recording!

    Wow (about the bulletin board comment), thanks! That's really cool, I just imagined you listening to your iPod (with an Impetus cover art showing), getting up a writing it down. I just got a "butterflies in my stomach" feeling lol...

    Anyway, here is a video with the "Fragile Perfection" music that I said that I would record. Notice the birds chirping and the pajamas that I'm wearing at 4:00 pm.

    Yeah, that's one of the beauties of songwriting; half of it is the listener's job.

    I find it funny that profession artists sometimes add recordings of wind or planes taking off or whatever, while people at home are trying to avoid the sound of a passing car ending up in their recordings.

  5. I finally got new guitar strings last night, so I recorded a bit of a demo of "Fragile Perfection" today. I thought that I had fixed that rumble sound that the box makes when it gets loud by placing a soft cover book between the camera and the box, but it didn't work for the vocal take for some reason. Anyway, it's only one verse and one chorus, but here it is:



    There are some points where the words are mucky and hard to make out, so here is what I sang:

    What if God was silenced? Why would we bother for guidance?
    Where do I go for judgment, without a rightful providence?
    Our hearts are quick for soundness, but what does hope provide us?

    You are my
    Fragile perfection
    You justify
    All of my transgressions
  6. WOW, Nick, that's grrrrrrrrrrrrreat, I love it!!! It sounds very Seal-esque with some Coldplay+maybe Oasis influences? Wow, I've loved it, now i REALLY want to hear the whole ting

    Thanks Sergio! I'm actually wearing a CP shirt in the video (my most historic shirt of all time... I went to my first concert in it, played my first concert in it...) . I'll try to see what I can do next week, I'll see how long my keyboard can record for. What I did was; I played the keyboard part (while recording it on the keyboard) then pressed "play" while recording the guitar. So, the instruments are in the same track rather than separate ones. I would have recorded the vocals at the same time, but since I've only had the song for a day, I wanted to make sure that I got the melodies right.

    I'm glad that it gave you a vibe lol... it's actually the one that I had in mind, mysterious but kind of dark. But I think that the chorus is the antidote, even with the same melancholy track behind it.

    Ah, I'm very glad that's the feeling I got then lol! Like you said yesterday, half of the challenge of music is what the listener thinks lol. I agree with Sergio about the Coldplay feel, I picked up on that, but like with your second song, I'm getting a bit of Pop-ish feel, say If God Will Send... and Velvet Dress, and perhaps a bit of Wake Up Deadman too. Either way, it's good lol

    I think that the CP came from the guitar, while the Pop came from the "estranged" sense that the narrator makes you feel. Like you're revisiting your small home town after years of living in a big city I guess... Anyway, thanks for the comments again.
  12. Wow Nick, that was pretty unreal. I think i've greatly underestimated all of you guys hanging around this thread, not that I thought you guys couldn't write songs or something, it's just that I know a lot of guys that say they can write but they actually write shit. That song was unreal Nick, keep em' coming.
