Also...I simpy dont believe ppl who convert it will spread it the way you do. The argument with "Organizing to only have 1 MP3-version" is not valid in my opinion. It also is no justification regarding taper's wishes.

Is it about popularity? That's a non-argument. Just because we're popular we should have different 'rules' than other websites? Just type in u2 bootlegs on blogspot, you'll get dozens of bootlegs.

The best example is this thread:
    http://www.u2start.com/topic/8065/

That says it all.. Even a password protected file, not even a taper name included.
  2. Every taper disregards the venues wishes by actually recording show in the first place. 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Too many discussion points.

I'm not confused, I should have said "some" running this site. Then again, you are choosing to participate at that level with a site you don't entirely agree with. You have to take some of the heat that goes with it if you want that level of participation. Again, its not a huge deal in the big scheme of things. Maybe we should all go out and get some fresh air.

  4. If u2start will stop the mp3 upload these other sites will get more popular and u2start will go down.
  5. So just because others don't respect you don't have to respect taper's wishes as well?
If popularity is not your goal then you might refer to the blogspot search function on the show sites if ppl want to have a MP3 version.
You know...that way at least tapers aren't mad at u2start

  6. I'm all for it!

We're all open for discussion, but some ground things are not going to change anyway.
  7. I think 95% of the people can build websites like this if you give them sometime to figure it out Then you get to make the rules as well

This discussion isnt going to produce anything but arguements. We are open for lots of things.

We cant suite everybody's whishes, but we definitely try more than others.
  8. "Compromise....not a dirty word..."

And they will be mad at the blogspot blogs, and then won't share their recordings anyway, right? So what's the difference?

Popularity is never the goal, it's about what U2 is all about, that's our goal. And that is sharing, even if that includes disrespecting other's wishes. It's the greater good.

    Well said Chris!

True I may not agree with some things but in the end I do enjoy my role here. I'll take the heat if it comes. I certainly wouldn't want to be banned from other sites simply down to my involvement here (as is being touted by some over on U2T).

Can we replace the air with beer?
