1. Difference with Bosnia and Herzegovina is that that it always has been an artificial country. You cant just draw borders on a map and expect it to be a success.

Belgium on the other hand is dissolving slowly in two seperate countries. It has been for years that the 'language war' has been going on. When i was there on holiday we spoke Dutch with a guy, he answered in French. Everywhere citynames slashed and replaced with the name in the other language.

I dont see any perspective for Belgium as it is now, both parties are better off alone. I know some Dutchies and Belgians like to reunite. I would have nothing against The Dutch and Flemish Federation with 2 states in it, Nederland en Vlaanderen.

Dont see that happening though, our countries may even grown further apart than the Flemish are from the Walloons.

  2. sadly true
because some people get advantages from him and others are simply blind!!! and they are the majority .. more or less

sometimes i'm wondering how Europe can be united if the single nations can't

  3. De facto i.e not not really!!!
  4. The idea of 3 countries doesn't make sense to me either...
But that was the best solution according to a study from 12 different specialists

You're probably right... Last elections, even though they don't seem to help, last chance and then a referendum. Only thing is that I can already predict the outcome : half of Flanders will vote for independance, almost every Walloon will want to keep Belgium as it is.
EDIT : So actually we're back to zero then

But Yuri said there hasn't been a referendum in Czechoslavakia for splitting up the country I didn't know that. Feels weird and unnatural to me...

@ Risto's idea of Brussels under the EU flag : that's also a possibilty yes. Or Brussels as some kind of medieval city-state. But as Sergio said, I have no idea how the people in Brussels think about that...

Also @ Risto : with all respect for the Dutchies, I think we're too different to feel as one
Good partners, no doubt, but the same... No.

Sorry, I had to make a different post for that last sentence alone.

You're absolutely right! Sometimes ridiculous small areas (when compared to other parts of the world) want to be independant : Flanders, Catalonia (90% is pro ?!), Basque country (no idea of that's the right name), Bretagne (so I heard), Scotland wants to hold a referendum for independance, there's still these troubles in Northern Ireland....
And then we want to reunite them all in the EU
Ever seen the buildings in Strasbourg or with how many they hold conferences there ? Insane

About Italy : I have no idea how tha majority of the Italians can still be pro-Berlusconi...
I've been there for 2 weeks, right before elections in 2008 (btw how many parties do you have, 100 or what ), everybody I spoke to said to have had enough of him, but look who's still in charge... Sex parties (with some -18 year old girls...), probably connections with the maffia...
Oh well, I'm glad you seem to be against him
  6. I'm really looking forward to see Berlusconi jailed.

  7. absolutely i am!!!

me too with all my heart
in these days constitutional court is discussing against a law, guess who made it? , that put members of goverment away from being processed.
but it seems it's going nowhere
he, the malefic midget as i call him, should have 3 trials at the moment; other trials were deleted because parliament approved some decree-law which deletes that kind of crimes.

day by day italy is going far away from democracy

At college we watched brilliant documentary called "Videocracy" about the way things are done by Berlusconi.

  9. Trailer for the new Zeitgeist documentary, it's a must see ;)

You want to rely on the governemnt for your every need, thats your business. I believe in self-reliance.

  11. Just to let you know, you probably wouldn't be alive if your parents hadn't relied at least minimaly on the government.

Oh, and you of course woulnd't have learnt to speak&write decently if you hadn't gone to a public school, would you?

  12. Have fun dying in a house fire that your tax dollars- government money- would otherwise pay a fireman to put it out for you.

Or like Sergio said, have fun teaching your kids how to read and write on your own instead of putting them in a public school.

They government does more good than gets discussed on here. The truth is that it's too easy to point out the bad things, because they stick out like sore thumbs compared to the ritualistic things the American government does to better the lives of the people. It's utterly naive and downright stupid to suggest that nothing good comes from the government, and we could quite frankly list probably 50 things that you're not so "self reliant" on in your day-to-day life. Stop being immature and so radical about every belief you possess. It's fine to believe in something; it doesn't mean you need to choke it to its absolute death and advertise that it encompasses your life.
