On Sept. 19th, various U2 fan sites began reporting that Universal Austria had confirmed the release of three special 20th Anniversary Editions of The Joshua Tree with a tentative release date of November 23, 2007, continuing U2's streak of releasing an album, compilation, or DVD in November of every year since 2001's Elevation 2001: Live from Boston DVD.

    The releases will consist of:

    * A digitally re-mastered standard album in a 'super' jewel case with a 24-page booklet.
    * A deluxe edition to include a 5" hardcover book with two wallets (at front and back) to hold two CDs (the remastered album + rarities) and the 24-page booklet.
    * A limited edition to contain everything in the deluxe edtion, plus one DVD of a Paris show from The Joshua Tree tour.

Translated from a Spanish site (didn't say which one):

It seems that this time goes in serious the news. We have known thanks to our friendly U2Valencia.com that U2 will publish " The Joshua Tree Deluxe Edition".

The past 1 of April we gave to the news of the publication of a special edition of the disc Joshua Tree on the occasion of the 20 anniversary of the publication of the same. The news turned out to be a joke of a Web on the occasion of the day of the innocents.

But now the news comes to us from Universal Music that has predicted the launching the next month of November of a special edition of the mythical disc of group. The box will contain unpublished material and a DVD with extra material.

According to they comment the launching is predicted for the 6 of November.

I am not sure now if it is still a joke or not.
U2Valencia and a few more spanish webs use to joke and fake every month. If I had believed all their "news", I would have now the Dortmund'84, Dortmund'92, Madrid'93 and Dublin '93, all of them in officically released DVDs. They lie as hell.

Anyway, TOO MANY sites are publishing this to be a fake. Maybe we're under a new release, with a GREAT upcoming DVD...

We will see. I won't believe it 100% until (unless!) i read it on U2.COM.
  4. I quote myself:

Wake up, Universal is the biggest music company in the world. If a subsidiary, in this case Universal Austria, has this in their catalog for a november release then it's official.

As someone mention earlier: U2.com is always last to confirm this sort of things. Relax, it will be a release folks.

I mentioned it, yes. But it's hard to believe something like that. There is a proshot (and i don't mean Broadcast, but Proshot) of a European 87 show and NOTHING has leaked? Way TOO hard to believe.

Anyway, here is there a very good sounding/viewing video of the show. And I mean VERY GOOD (excellent!!):

  6. im hoping its the JT album i still remember buying the record and tape the day it came out and hearin the first notes of streets ahh the memorys and would like a nice upgrade as my cd now sounds like shit through to much playing.

OK, I'm about to complain about U2.com, so ignore or read it if you want. Up to you...

We read on U2.com that POPmart was to be released in June. Didn't happen.

I don't trust them - and they're the freakin' official website for christ sake. Ticket problems, people getting booted from discussions for no bloody reason, regular hacking, FanFire...what other crap can that site produce? It makes me think that the people there couldn't give a toss (and believe me, they don't). They give you a half-arsed live CD which sucked anyway.

I shudder to think what will happen if the pre-sales go arse up tit again - don't be surprised if they do. I think it's time to shut U2.com down, and start again with a decent start and not messing up.
  8. if this is true it would be a great chance to release bullet the blue sky as a single

  9. well i hope it's true !!!!!!
i can't wait for something real new !!!!
oke the popmart dvd is great but i had that one for about 9 years
    on video >>>>>
  10. I agree with your vies on U2.com drew. The only good thing about it is that when the post a release (albeit 4 months after we heard about it and even though it will be released months after they say it will) it does mean it's official. Shit site though
  11. again: does anyone knows anything about this incident:

Does anyone knows what happend during With Or Without You?? All of the sudden Bono stops singing and start to talk to some people in the front rows...He says 'nobody gets hurt in a U2 show' and something like ' Tear gas, I thought there were enough tears in this song'. Hope somebody can tell me more about this incident...

as far as I remember there was a bit of a scuffle in the crowd and someone let off some tear gas (not sure if it was the authorities or someone had a can handy) but Bono stopped the song so the tear gas could clear and for the order in the disorder to return. Then they finished the song
