totally agree but as for the fly i wouldn't class that as truly wishful thinking as it's been played on every tour since it was written except popmart and this one. i mean obviously i'd love to see it played on 360 (so i suppose in that respect it is wishful thinking.)

but i'd much rather hear something from the truly wishful thinking category.. something like lemon, LNOE, acrobat, dirty day, mofo and zooropa.... oh wait!

after last night officially anything is possible!
  2. another

  3. Anyone who's saying "they played the full version" is incorrect. They skipped a whole verse in the first part of the song

    Zooropa... better by design
    Zooropa... fly the friendly skies
    Through appliance of science
We've got that ring of confidence

I LOVE that stanza too! Ah well. Still great, needs practise still, but amazing that they decided to play it. Here's to hoping they keep it in the setlist and it only gets better and better.
  4. Hate to be the party pooper but im puzzled by the adding of zooropa. Don't get me wrong i adore the song and love the album but as a live track it just does nothing. For me U2 make great songs greater when live. Not this one.
  5. Hello at all,

I think the bono's voice is strange in the video, it would be play back version??
And the fact it's impossible to see Bono during the song, it's very strange!!
    I'm alone in that case??

have a good night at all

I feel you. Although I'm ultra happy that U2 is going in the direction they're going (Real Thing, Zooropa, Out of Control being added in) I can't help but realize that the live version has nothing on the album version. My only explanation is, it's their first time performing it in about 18 years, and even back then they couldn't get it right live. I think if they keep playing it, it will only get better.

But the album version will always have a special place in the section of my heart where U2 is.

By that standard NYD hasn't been played in full either.

'And so they say, this is the Golden age, and gold is the reason for the wars we wage.'
  8. Yeah, people obviously just mean "full" in that the first section of the song was played in conjunction with the entire last part. First time thats ever happened if I'm not mistaken.

True, but my point was people are claiming that Zooropa is played in a completely full form, which it isn't. I don't think people ever bring up that lost verse in the live performances of NYD because it's been forgotten for so many years live.

No clue why they'd drop that verse for Zooropa though. They decided to perform the first half of the song (unlike the ZooTV performances) so why not do it in full? Maybe they didn't want to keep the casual fans in the dark for "too long". Who knows.

Either way, it's not really a complaint, just something I noticed and am curious about. Ultimately I'm loving the fact that they even considered it let alone performed it. This is the U2 360 show where it should be going, out into space, "out there". Songs like Real Thing, Zooropa, those should've been part of the main theme of this tour from the get go.

The fact that Bono can't be seen is kind of strange for sure, but I think it's due to the lightening. But 100% sure this is not a playback version. It just sounds weird because we haven't heard it sung for 18 years, I guess.
