I wrote a song like that for someone special a few weeks ago

    Thanks man!

Writing the music to this thing is proving to be more difficult than i'd imagined. Blahhhh
  2. Here´s a little tune I wrote for my girl as a xmas gift... i wrote it in portuguese, this is the english version... might sound cheesy:

    I´ve waited all my life
    And I could never deny
    That I´ve always loved you
And I want you next to me

    I can´t tell you why
I want the same as you
I see the things like you do
    All I want is you

    I feel so high
    I feel so alive
If I know how to love
    I can own the world

    I can´t tell you why
I want the same as you
I see the things like you do
    All I want is you

    And love
Love is way up in the sky
Love comes and goes in a while
    Your love makes me smile

  3. Start out simple, play a basic chord progression (1-4-5, 1-5-6-4 etc.), start humming any old shit, generally gets me on the road to a song - eventually you'll hit on something that suits
  4. Yeah, just play around with some chords! Eventually you'll think, that sounded good.

Most guitar chords parts I come up with that way, I've found out are somewhat based on the chords for One. Am, Dsus2, Fmaj7, G. But they don't sound like One. And it's not intentional, I guess those chords are just good
  5. What do you think of this one? Not finished and polished, but an idea:

I was there in a corner
with heavy ropes tied around me
    I shouted and you responded
You tied up my knots and

You free me and take me to another place
    A better place!
You touch me and my heart and I'm in that
    Other place!

    You and your endless grace
It moves in such beautiful ways
    Wherever you go
    You make it better

You're like a cloud of love
A wind blows and you're there
In that cloud I feel like a drop of love
I wanna bump into you and merge into one

You free me and take me to another place
    A better place!
You touch me and my heart and I'm in that
    Other place!
  6. Really like what you've got going on here, Mr. Trek. Songwriting is fun...I should dive back in.

I keep writing little bits of music but no lyrics, so I'm trying to reverse that. Hashed out a tune I'd been putzing around with for a few days, played all the way through it with a friend doing some rhythm, and it pretty much became a song...now to just write lyrics. Might be called "Bottle Rocket".

Trying to work a chorus with the line "Sparks shower like kisses from the stars"
  7. Thanks! Songwriting sure is a of fun, and unfortunately time consuming. And random, never know when an idea appears. I have a pretty big load of unfinished songs and ideas. Hoping to finish some songs on my easter break now
  8. Poem I wrote:

Its finally over, jigs finally up
The tables been cleared but I can't get enough
Its a bruise to my ego, a shot to my heart
It makes me wonder, should I ever restart?

The grass won't be as green, the sky won't be as clear
Another person to my heart, could never be as dear
But I need to move on just to prove I know how
Putting aside that I still need you now

I'll wake up tomorrow, with a gap in my soul
But nothings forever, or so i've been told
I try to move on, but my heart holds me back
Says "her loves like a safe, that you've just gotta crack"

I buy in every time, I believe that it's true
Because i'll never love anyone as strongly as you
But as the sun rises, and as the sun sets
My love will be forever, I hope you never forget.
  9. Wow... really heartbroken/breaking

    What does jigs mean though?

  10. Its an expression, "the jig is up" Refers to a ruse or trick that has been discovered. The game is over, the time of reckoning is here.

  11. In Spanish we have a saying that, translated into English, is something like "You'll never go to bed without learning something new"... So thanks

Ah I see. I probably shoulda put some footnotes clarifying the more regional phrases.
