1. It seems that U2 may be considering calling it a day sometime next year, Guggi Bono and others have hinted at this possibility. Is now the right time or do yo think they have one more great tour and album left in them?

What a sad day for music and in general it will be if they do break, the end of the last great band.
  2. They can't quit, I haven't seen them live.
  3. I agree, it's not time yet, it's too early.
  4. One more small tour. Any time now would be ok for them to call it a day. I don't think they have another great album in them.
  5. A part of me thinks that it might happen, but another part of me thinks it won't.

On one hand, they (specially Bono) have realized that they hardly can reach the peaks of notoriety, relevance and sales they had back in 1992, 2001 or even 2005. Realizing that might lead them to call it a day.

On the other hand, they have a notorious hunger for money and magazine covers, so to speak. That leads me to think that they might wait a little more, maybe get out one or two more records (probably very pop oriented), and do a big farewell tour. I don't think their last concert could be the Moncton one, it just makes no sense considering how U2 are.

I'm speaking about logical thining, not my feelings.
  6. I think they've sounded too excited about music in their interviews to quit.
  7. I have a feeling they will call it a day sometime next year. I've been saying that for some time now, maybe since last summer when we had this kind of discussion as well. I'm the last one who wouldn't want them to continue, but.... like I said. A feeling. That's all.
  8. When you still sell 5 million copies of a not so commercial sounding album....
  9. I wouldn't be surprised at either outcome, them being if they quit soon or release another album and have one more tour.

To be honest, their "farewell" tour if they have one better be damn amazing, because the 360 tour was even better than damn amazing. I don't think they can top that, or top their best albums. The thing that's keeping me from saying that they won't quit, is wanting them to continue on so I can see them again and see if they can prove to the world that htey do still have music left in them.

Other than that, I think it might be time for them to call it a day. Believe me, it's the last thing I want, but I've accepted that it might be time.

THAT BEING SAID: They thought the same thing back in 1990. So maybe all this talk about "We feel like it's 1990 again" will only sprout another experimental branch for them, and we'll see something completely different from them soon which will change people's impression of them again. Who knows.
  10. They don't need to break up. They just need to stop trying so hard/caring so much about what casual fans think of them.

    Indeed!

    +1
and i'd add they shouldn't "care" about every fan wants (casual or diehard) ... simply do what they want to do .. following their feelings and spirits and nothing else ... like it was in the first 2 decades and that made U2 what U2 are (not only musically)
