1. U2 in 2011 at least until July was about getting a 90's centric setlist for Glastonbury, not really used for time to record. We know they worked on the new album in 2010 with Danger Mouse and the new songs we heard on tour, but who knows how far they are. MAYBE THEY'RE ALMOST DONE WITH IT OMG IMAGINE
  2. It'll have to do (FTGU) - and will do.

I hate to say it but bands like U2 and Pearl Jam might need a longer time between albums to make us rabid fans so desparate for new material that when the record does finally get its release, we'll love it no matter what.

OMG LOL I can kind of see this logic working or crossing through Paul McGuinnesses mind
  4. I had hoped for an album in 2013 but looking at their recent track record, I'm a little disheartened. Anyway, for a 2013 release, you'd expect them to be a good way through the album by now and I just can't imagine that they are. Adam said last November that they were heading straight into the studio in 2012 and as much as I trust his word, there's not been a lot of noise since.
  5. I may very well get banned for that last comment, by the way.

  6. I think you'll be fine, it does seem to be the case with a lot of older artists (LOOKING AT YOU RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS)

I agree completely, everybody seems to be doing their own thing and chilling with their families, I don't blame them, they deserve all the time off they want, but it really sucks for us fans </3
  8. Could they be recording without the press knowing? It's been pretty much a whole year and a half since the end of 360...

I had heard the same thing, that they were in and out of the studio.I believe Bono or maybe Adam, mentioned this in August 2011,when 360 ended.I had heard a few rumblings in the early fall,2011.Then,nothing.I assume, they have been in the studio for 2012.

Since we havent heard a thing, obviously a March 2013 release is out.Since the band have released 90% of their albums in March or Oct,I would hope an Oct 2013 release will happen. With a major tour in 2014.This time frame is more than reasonable.Bono will be 54 in May 2014,so time is of essence.

IMO,the problem is,U2 are so nervous about releasing a product that isnt "great",they worry, and then they delay and delay. This happened with Horizon.IMO,they should go back to Steve Lillywhite, and drop Eno.Dave Matthews Band went back to Lillywhite finally,he produced their last release,Away From The World, it is their best, since Lillywhite produced them in the '90's.

U2 should just put out a record that they like, not what they think the people will like.
  10. In any case, I think/hope the band takes a subdued approach to their record...kind of like Radiohead did with In Rainbows. Make a simple record and complement it with a scaled-down tour.

I think they'd (re)earn a lot of repsect for that approach - and in the end I think that is what they really want.
  11. When I hear most of the album I still kinda think this is some stuff that they've never done before and it's amazing, but that's also because they never really played enough of it live, so unlike other songs/albums it's not very cultivated. Agree with Bono that this is not really a good album to play live though.
