I was at a party few weeks ago and we were listening to all kinds of music. Friend of mine that HATES U2 says to me later in the night: 'Go on, let me hear that new U2 song one more time, it's REALLY good.' I was like WHAT?!

YES ! Same over here. Ordinary Love is ok for me, not super, and I'm still not a fan of Invisible.

But in my environment it's like in yours : my friends and family are kinda anti-U2 but love Ordinary Love.
Most radiostations totally bashed U2 for years, but Ordinary Love is still in the top 10 on the 5 biggest stations (even Nr.2 at the "Cool/Rebel/Youth" station, StuBru) which really is extraordinary. And many stations are sharing the downloadlink for Invisible as well.

That's awesome. What a great first day.

May - anticipation / little clips here and there for hype
June - ALBUM AND TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT

I hope you're right too...I also hope that this timeline will be speeded up a bit!
  4. Invisible no longer available on iTunes,

  5. I can't/don't want to believe that.
But it's true. Can't believe that they didn't just up the price to a $1 themselves and try and continue to climb into the popularity status, it didn't even show up on the charts on iTunes cause of it being free.

EDIT: I bet you they put it back on iTunes the week of Jimmy Fallon when they perform it, as well as the full video and maybe (just maybe) the non-RED edit version?
  6. It's the same mentality that they had when they first started touring. Play the smallest places so they sell out, so there's always people saying "That U2 show must've been awesome, couldn't get to see it". They want to create a buzz and not being able to easily get something is a great way to do it.
  7. Would like indoors, but the Ziggo Dome here is like our own 'O2 Arena' with more or less the same capacity. They could sell 10 nights there (which obviously won't happen), making it harder for us to get any tickets.

On a sidenote: I scanned Twitter for the general buzz regarding Invisible (both English and Dutch tweets) and it's really hard to find any negativism. It seems that almost everyone who gets to hear the song likes it. A good sign.
  8. Invisible is available on iTunes in holland, for €1,29 per song. It says that €1,03 is going to donated to the Red foundation. So it didn't dissapear....
  9. I would prefer if it disappeared totally off iTunes. It just doesn't feel right as Ali said:

I agree. Let's see if it's been taken down to be re-released with a price, or of it disappears in some places and not in others, etc.
  10. What I mostly dislike about this song, or myself, is that even after +20 times listening to it, the "There is no them, there's only us" line is stuck in my head, but the chorus isn't. While with every new listen I must admit the chorus is rather good. I don't get it They should've maybe reapeat the chorus in the end of the song once more.
  11. I tend to agree with that. I don't even know what the chorus is xD
  12. Agreed. The chorus is great, the melody and the words are fantastic, I especially like the "I'm more than you see here!". They'll do it differently live I think...and hopefully even on the album version.
By the way, the ad video on U2's YouTube channel has 2.5 million views so far, pretty impressive for less than 48 hours!

Also...I know we already discussed the Guardian review of the song, but did you guys see the page it self?

    http://www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2014/feb/03/u2-invisible-new-music

The YouTube video they have there which is supposedly "Invisible"...wth is that?!
