But playing songs on albums that are rare and haven't been getting much/any attention is something else, that is what I'm hoping for.

This. And I'm not disappointed by Edge's comment - he did in fact say they are hoping to play lots of different material as the tour gets up and running. So let's wait and see what they bring out as the tour continues!

There was a snippet of NYD on RBW right?

I agree with you for the most part.
There's nothing wrong with them playing 2 or 3 (or 4, or at least 1) not-regular songs in every show. Nothing wrong with it, and everybody will still perfectly enjoy it, either if they're old forgotten singles, ignored album tracks, great b-sides or even obscure rarities.
It would be perfectly fine, almost nobody would complain and many fans would love it.

The only thing that I have an issue with it, is when people assumes that they HAVE to do it. When the comments come across as people being upset because the band doesn't seem really interested in playing those 2 or 3 or 1 uncommon songs. That's when I don't agree.

Because there's really no reason for them to feel like they HAVE to play those songs. Why would they?
Saying that the show would be improved it's only half truth, because that's translating your opinion as a fact, "the show would be improved for me and my group of friends" it's not the same as "the show would be improved, period".
There's nothing wrong with them NOT playing those 2 or 3 or 4 or at least 1 not-regular songs in every show. Nothing wrong with it, the huge majority still enjoys it perfectly, almost nobody complains and many fans love it this way.

So... why would they feel like they HAVE to do it?

And again, my ideal setlist would include way too many unplayed songs and rarities, along with all the missing tracks from SOI. But there's no point in actually expect the band to play them or/and get upset/complain when they don't.
  4. So I think I picked the wrong tour to go spoiler free. Photos everywhere, live streams, even video recordings posted just hours after or even during the show. In fact, U2 showed up on my BBC newsfeed.

    Just two more weeks....
  5. I'm thinking if each night is slightly different from the other maybe I'll just avoid for the week or so before my show! That's doable right?
  6. Who's gonna be in Chicago on the 24th? I just won two tickets!
  7. I just won two tickets for the first L.A. gig!
