1. In my mind that sounded like "take it as a bitch".
    But anyway...
  2. If you were rich for 35 years, you'd have a different calendar to the rest of us too.
  3. Let's be honest here. How many of you were actually expecting SOI to come out when it did? Most people thought it would have played out like the release of Invisible or Ordinary Love. U2 releases a new song with some other news, but otherwise no new album. I think we should all know well by now that the band have not lost their ability to surprise and deliver.

We were expecting it for 5 years. So not that surprised really.
  5. Yes, people were "expecting" it for 5 years, but I know nobody expected the whole album to be released on that day.
  6. Yes, they've waited for so long nobody had any hopes left. Basically you're saying that's great and an awesome strategy, as we were still amazed.

I say : it's not ok. If they're not certain, they shouldn't say anything. False hope is an awful thing imo. It's like saying "Heeey, your puppy will be fine." But then he dies anyway. And they give you a new one instead.
  7. Five years later.

As a U2-fan I've learnt to slightly hope, but never to expect anything. And that's normal for such a big band after 40 years.
I agree with you in this part: Don't expect, don't demand, so you're not disappointed.
Actually that's exactly why I really don't understand and feel uncomfortable when somebody complains about set lists, lack of rotation, lack of rarities, and so on... enjoy what we have, there's no harm in wishing or hoping, but there's no point whatsoever on expecting/demanding/complaining/bothering if it doesn't happen.

Once said that, I still believe that there'll be a new album before this cycle is over. If it isn't, then I won't be upset at all, but this time I will be worried because -imho- that could mean something much worse than what it was 5 years ago.
  8. I think that's a healthy attitude.
  9. If U2 releases new material, that's awesome. But if not, that's fine too.
  10. Don't think a new release will be together with Apple, I don't expect Apple to touch U2 anytime soon after what happened during SOI. Also I find it kinda strange to see a new Apple way of listening to music while I thought U2 and Apple would do something together to create ''an experience'' surrounding the music as Bono said it.

I just hope they will let go of the ''we need a hit song'' way and just make whatever they want to make, the charts are broken and good music is something you need to searchfor nowadays. I'm fine with that, I rather have a great U2 album like Zooropa or Pop than a album full of cheesy radio-friendly songs like ATYCLB. You can't please everyone and the changes of getting a bunch of new fans from an album aren't that big anymore even if they create a new Achtung Baby or Joshua Tree it probably won't blow people away like it did back then.

I guess the best chance for us to get an album where they don't care too much about a hit song, is if they release it as it's been speculated, in the middle of this tour, just like Zooropa did.

Don't think it too much, just get it out there... people will be less judgemental about it (how successful it was) since it would look more like a fast record.
