1. Just thinking - I may be in the minority of people who likes SFS but damn it Lucifer & Ballroom are so much more interesting it's a pity that we have to wait with baited breath every night to see if they get played
  2. I miss NLOTH:

  5. I have to say that this is not my fav tour ( until now of course) . i think that Vertigo and 360 were more interesting setlist / rotation and they classics were played better

Here are my point of view for wich songs were better on which tour ( between Vertigo, 360 and i-e )

    Out Of Control - i-e
    Vertigo- Vertigo
    I Will Follow- same
    Sunday Bloody Sunday- Vertigo
Until The End Of The World- 360
Even Better Than The Real Thing-360
    Mysterious Ways -360
    Bullet The Blue Sky- i-e
Pride (In The Name Of Love)-i-e
    With Or Without You-i-e
    City Of Blinding Lights-Vertigo
    Beautiful Day-Vertigo
Where The Streets Have No Name- same
    I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For -360
One -i-e but it begin to bore me
    Bad - Vertigo
    Electric co- i-e
    Stuck in a moment-i-e
    Elevation -Vertigo
    Desire -i-e
Angle of harlem-hard ..maybe 360 because MJ snippets

    in 21 songs : I-E tour 8 have better versions, Vertigo 6 and 360 5 and there are 2 tieds .
So with this POV the I-E tour is good for some old songs , but the lack of rotation is the big problem . Even when they played many songs , there are some that they played just twice
  6. 19 songs ever night
    + OOC or Electric co
    + 2 unkwon songs
+ Still havent found or One

+ only few times Bad / Troubles / All i want is you

Is too static to me. Even when they play the same songs you can just change the order

and one more ( but not little ) detail that U2 always had awesome opening songs and aweosme closers songs . Except on this tour. I love Miralce , but need more powerful. And closing with that warm version of One or Still havent found is a bit poor. Better way with 40 that couple of times but we need a new song to close better the show .
The Encore is another thing ..we all love and want some strongers songs than COBL

If we were talking about them compiling a CD, or even something like U22, I would agree. But we are talking about a concert, an event intended to be experienced with both your eyes and your ears. Even then, seeing it from a video is not even close to physically being present at the venue. To ignore the actual quality of the performance while talking about a setlist for a live concert is pretty wrong to me. I mean, we might as well be looking at songs on a piece of paper without even considering the way they actual sound at this point.

I actually completely agree with this

obviously not everyone... I've already said that the really small minority of U2 fans that spend a lot of time following setlists, live streams and bootlegs have a tendency to complain about the lack of variation among other things.

That minority happens to be a considerable percentage of the people on the forums and I guess that's why sometimes mistakenly feels itself a bit entitled to get the shows tailored to whatever they're convinced would be better, even if nobody outside this circle cares about it, and when the shows aren't tailored as that minority wants -which shouldn't be a surprise at all- then absurdly accuse the band of playing safe or chickening out or being stupid.

Setlists and/or songs selection are totally subjective. The idea that A Sort Or Homecoming would be better than Elevation in a setlist would be heavily supported almost by the entirety of the small minority that it's the internet U2 community (including me), but it would be considered the most stupid thing the band has done in the last decade by the huge majority of non obsessive fans. Both opinions are equally valid, and believing that one opinion is more valid than the other is arrogant and wrong. But believing that the minority opinion is more valid and keep on demanding that the band acts accordingly is not only arrogant and wrong, but delusional as well.

Wishing that the band plays x or y song, hoping that they would change something, disliking some song that they're playing... That's perfectly normal and everybody does it. But being upset because they don't meet your demands? Lol... Who's forcing you to continue listening to it and devoting your free time to it almost on a daily basis?
  9. To illustrate my point a little bit, I'll take u2michaelc as an example...

He keeps going on and on and on about how New Year's Day is the perfect song and how just by including it on any setlist it would turn any combination of songs in the best setlist ever.

He's convinced about it but -in the internet community- nobody else really cares about NYD that much.
He's like the internet community claiming for more setlist variation while the rest of the non obsessive fanbase don't really care about it that much.

With the obvious difference that michaelc never actually complains or moans about it, he just enjoys sharing his love for NYD while patiently awaits for the day when the band decides to play that great song again.
That's a much better way to do it, imho.

Alex, this is nothing personal at all, since I really appreciate you as a member (no phallus joke), but you do tend to get kinda offensed by what people say on here, while you don't really understand what we're really saying.

Like Blink said (and I said and numerous of people said dozens of times), it's about the SETLIST. What do they play each night ? Is it a good song choice and is there some variability in between nights ? NO ONE said something about the quality and the performances. Cause yes, you'd have to be there. And actually, I think we all like (most of) the versions they're playing.

Sorry, but as long as you don't get that difference, discussing with you is rather pointless...

Again, nothing personal ! Just trying to make things clear. For the tenth time
This, nothing more to add. If we can't talk about things we didn't attend we might as well just close this whole forum. Because the tour hasn't been to Europe everyone from Europe or Australia or whatever only has the right to say: '' Yeah, best tour of all time, yeaah whoooo fuck yeaah its sooooo good''

And Bloodraven: I don't think anyone really bothers that much or is really upset that it really has any kind of influence in their real life. But having a discussion about the setlist (purely about the setlist, not about their screens of other stuff, Ahn1991) isn't bad. I just find it quite interesting that a bunch of people here and other U2forums think this setlist kinda sucks. Are we gonna do anything about it? No, because the setlist works for the band probably. Can't we talk about it and share our point of view how it could become better? Yes, could be fun.

And no one here is demanding that they play a show with Heartland, Hawkmoon, Acrobat, NLOTH, Moment of Surrender, Twilight, Gloria, RHMT, LIB, SLABT, Kite, TUF and Lady With The Spinning Head. I posted a setlist some pages back, with ideas which I think could be realistic and which could really work during a show. It's not like people walked out of the venue during the last tours when they started playing Miss Sarajevo, UV or Gloria or something similair.
