I agree the spectacle was immense but it was from a tour showcasing some weak material from a brave but ultimately flawed album. Lets face it, U2 SHOULD be about the music.
The ZooTV tour was amazing for the quality of music AND over-the-top stage gimmicks whereas the Joshua Tree tour was powerful because it ONLY mattered about the strength of the tracks.
If you take away all the tinsel and baubles from PopMart, your left with a tree, and not a real one, one of those cheap plastic ones that smell a bit like eggs.
