I'm still going to buy this and even watch it a few times (especially the bonus material), but I'm more interested to know if the audio is any different compared to the HBO broadcast.
It's funny, I LOVED the MX tour and couldn't wait for the DVD, but I really don't like it. It's too jarring, switching places and having so many segments in between songs. The whole thing doesn't have any flow for me. Plus the slow motio shots are cheesy as hell.

Now the 2003 DVD...that's good stuff.
  2. No real interest in concert videos any longer. I have a YouTube playlist with all my favourite fan shot stuff. I'll not be buying this.
  3. Was tempted to get my hands on the Super Deluxe thingy, just because - but then, why?!? Way too expensive
Pre-ordered the simple dvd,and that's it. Should do perfectly fine.

The audio is different, The official release sounds more polished, from what i hear in the I Will Follow preview compared to the HBO version

Streets at Slane has a terrible cut in it and it was very literally the first thing a thought of when I saw that cut in IWF.

Poorly edited for sure, I hate when stuff like that makes it to a final cut.
  6. Well, my thoughts. I've never liked this tour from the name. They ruined Every Breaking Wave with the acoustic version and Song for someone changing the lyrics, and U2's live performance in the tour is messy. Not to mention their traditional bad setlist.

Pay for forced religion indoctrination, NEVER!

Hamish Hamilton flashes? Jesus Christ, no.

    24fps? HELL NO.

I will be very happy listening to the original album, watching the fan videos at higher frame rate on youtube and be impressed with the Virtual Reality version of Song for someone.

Oh, about the older releases: Slane version still their best release, Boston, Chicago, Milan fall behind, and them all have those unbeareble camera mistakes.
  7. ^ Wow that was harsh.

  8. I have to ask if you enjoyed any U2 tour whatsoever. U2 were originally a worship band at their local church before deciding to become a rock group and a large portion of their discography have religious inspirations. I mean, why do you think it's called "40"?

    I think you're misinterpreting tchezao,
As someone that doesn't share the band's spirituality, it's not that we can't enjoy a U2 show. Hell, they will always be my favorite band and I appreciate that what they believe moved them to create such beautiful music and I will always be grateful for that.
But you have to admit it gets very preachy at a U2 show. If you share the faith, you won't even notice it, but when Bono says "say a prayer for..." or "under the eyes of God", he is excluding a part of the audience, even if it is well intended. During the Vertigo tour he often mentioned that "the 3 Abramic religions come from the same origin". Well, what if you don't care about either of the 3?
I think even Bono is more aware of this, as I think he was less preachy in the latest tour.
But I understand if someone sees that as "religion indoctrination". It's a show for everyone, you can just mention the good causes you support, no matter what faith you share (or don't).
  10. Preachy Bono is best Bono. That's why I love the Elevation Tour so much.
  11. That's because you share his spirituality.
  12. I will admit this tour was much more political than previous ones and I know people who are bothered by that. But honestly speaking Bono sees himself as an activist and, to a lesser degree, an evangelist before a rockstar. He knows people are going to feel uncomfortable when you dedicate two songs to his spirituality and people are probably going to get angry when you perform in Europe and challenge them to accept refugees, but this is who Bono is.
