    Context makes one of them great and the other awful. Which one is each, depends on where you ask.

    ATYCLB was the album Gotham needed, even if maybe it wasn't the one it deserved.
    And Pop was the album Gotham deserved, but not the one it needed.
  4. Both albums are albums that U2 needed to produce to be who they are now and in spite of my best attempts to piss off every Pop fan on this site, I will still say it's an unbelievable shame that Pop has basically been ignored for the past two tours.

  9. Can you really base great according to numbers? I mean, as a former record guy, I see what you're saying, it's all about the sales. But, as a former record guy I can tell you that there are so many "great" records out there that nobody has heard because they don't fit the great radio formula, or weren't deemed worthy enough for the labels to pay to have them force fed to you every hour on the hour at commercial radio...

    Was Pop great to you? That's really all that matters.
