I wonder what equipment you guys use to listen to your CDs. The sound quality of the early releases is way below today's standards, so a remaster is really appropriate.
You even get the choice to buy the remastered album alone or a package with Bonus Material. Can't see a rip off or sell out. I would follow that argument if they would re-release those albums unremastered and with one single 'rare' track added. But they don't.

For listening it's on the new iPod classic at AAC lossless (even though it's a new sound chip which is a lot poorer than what the last gen was), or Foobar2000 with the Deep DSP applied - which sounds pretty good with FLAC5.

Even though I had a few of the B-sides and outtakes on the Joshua Tree - Beautiful Ghost, Rise Up etc...I bought the box-set with anything and everything. It cost a bomb but selling out is just putting out the album again - same artwork, same booklet, same recording quality and the same songs. But they're not.

    Completely agree.
  3. Bring on the remasters!
  4. HMV.co.uk has the remasters listed for pre-order.

No details other than it states war and under a blood red sky include dvds. All are currently priced at £11.99 so may at least pre-order these two as these prices have a tendency to change closer to release date (not usually for the better). May advise others to do so too (you can always cancel your order before release date for whatever reason)

pre-ordering now. Thanks. Are those prices for the deluxe editions?

EDIT : I had no idea they were remastering UABRS and including the DVD. I thought the DVD was coming with the deluxe of War

Those prices are for Deluxe war and UABRS yes. At the moment only single disc versions of Boy and October are listed (also at 11.99). Going to keep checking back over the coming weeks though.

They originally listed the Joshua Tree Deluxe CD/DVD etc. at about 11.99!

June doesn't seem all that far away now!
  8. Amazon is now listing the release dates for the US as:

Boy/October: June 10 (happy birthday to me!)
    War/UABRS: June 24

Indeed, indeed, only the best are born in June

And this is all pretty great news in my opinion

I'm particularly interested in hearing Boy remastered.
