But back in 1992-93 on what many people here consider their greatest tour, they played 20-22 songs a night, most of them the same from city to city. We're getting more songs than we should be expecting at this stage in the band's career.

    P.s.- hard to cut slack with premium ticket pricing, and read Bono's SOE liner notes about "deal" in place between U2 and their audience. Just sayin...

    Just to be clear, I'm not saying that the set shouldn't be critiqued or that the band shouldn't be called out on things. As noted earlier, I think they could do a lot more rotation of early 80s material in the ABOY/Gloria/RFD spot. And plenty of much, much better options than Elevation & Vertigo to start the second half. And Wild Horses (or anything!) to start the encore before the speech and One.

    I just was saying that comparing setlist variation and length from E&I so far compared to some of their most venerated tours in the past helps me keep things in perspective and enjoy this tour for what it is. 24 songs with 8 of them from a new album after 40 years in a band ain't bad.

  4. The band sounded board and Rusty tonight as well as lazy and couldn't wait to get out of Nebraska. They better have their A game for the next 2 shows in Chicago, but I expect the setlist to be the same as the 2 nights in Los Angeles.
  5. Not sure if I'd be remotely upset even if I had paid to go to the show and I had got a 24 song set list with no rotation whatsoever.

    Tonight I didn't got the chance to listen, good to see I didn't miss any debut.

    I really feel bad for all the people that can't enjoy 100% the show as is.
    I'm not being sarcastic at all.
    What I'm writing next is just sharing why I do enjoy it, hoping that someone finds in this perspective a way to enjoy the tour a bit more (I know we're all different, so I know this won't work for everybody, but still had to give it a shot).

    My expectations of the tour consist basically of 2 things:

    1) A handful of distinct shows (hopefully memorable) for me to download and listen to them over and over as the days and years go by.
    I don't need to have 30 different shows from the same tour, I won't even have time to listen to all of them in the following years. So anything between 3-7 shows per tour is perfect. Ten at most.
    So far, I have at least LA1, but I can include Tulsa (ABOY + Wild Horses) and LA2 (loved the crowd); so, that's 3 shows, pretty good, specially considering the tour is not even half way.

    2) If I'm at home at the time of the show, the chance to listen to a show live instead of listening to some old show or an album. This is still like a miracle to me and I'm still not tired of this sorcery of being able to do that.
    Since the alternative is to listen to an album or an old show, I think listening to a brand new show live -even if it's shorter than others, or if it has the exact same setlist- is still the best option.
    Sure, most shows I've listened live (counting since i+e tour) I haven't listened to them again, I'm not interested in downloading them, I won't listen to them ever again, and I have already forgot them.
    But there was no need for me to not enjoy them at the time.

    So that's it. That's what I've been expecting from these last couple of tours. I don't know if I had got the chance to attend at least one show, if I would be upset about the setlist, but I think I still wouldn't be upset, even if I had paid for the shows.
    But that's not even remotely a problem for me, since I'm enjoying all these shows for free.

    Sorry for the long post, but seriously, this is not a rant, this is honestly just hoping that at least someone starts enjoying the shows a little bit more.

  8. I didn’t listen in to the show and I’m trying not to complain I just don’t know what the band are thinking when they decide to drop a song without replacing it. I’ll leave it at that.
  9. Here statstics by setlist.fm, i repeat, worst setlists ever, show similar as the tour of SOI +E 2015,maybe i will sell the tickets for milan 1 or 2 and go to only one concert. I'm upset with band and live nation. Still not received gifts of 2017 and 2018.

    It's more songs than last year, so last year was an even worse setlist?

    I don't think number of songs says anything about the quality of the show. Just says something about quantitative value for money.
