Experience and Innocence tour
Legs (3): Promo tour, Leg 1: North America, Leg 2: Europe
Shows: 75
  1. Great comments by Chrisedge.
Two things the band did get right on the North American tour though were Desire instead of the guitar solo less EBTTRT, and American Soul naturally following after GOOYOW. BTW, NYD is my favorite U2 song of all time. However, I thought Zooropa would gave worked better in that spot in Europe if they weren't going to play AS.

It's been mentioned before, but I suggest that the Willie Williams push to change things up and add more Achtung Baby era songs and film Berlin is a result of the realization that there will not be an Achtung Baby 30th anniversary tour or a Zoo TV 2.0
  2. Maybe they are filming for a box set?

I actually mentioned that but most of the dates that had the section (including RBW) all were cities hit on I&E. SJ and LA accounted for 4 out of the 6 shows that did. Plus all the ones after that as well, PHX (edit, I was thinking phx/Vegas), Chicago, etc that dropped RBW.

I don’t buy that. 8 shows in 2015 at msg. 5 more in the area this year. Same innocence section. This tour was not ready imo. I’m not saying they knew it wasn’t ready but hindsight is 20/20. To know what this tour could of been is infuriating to me.
  5. Guess we have had our Achtung Baby Tour now with 10 of the 12 songs being performed over the last year.
  6. 9 of the 12 (no so cruel, Tryin to throw your arms around the world or love Is Blindness), however 9 songs from the album still is pretty good going and would make the absence of an AB30 tour easier to live with, I would definitely like to hear LIB at least though out of that list above but the other 2 would be more than welcome in the future too so I could say I’ve seen all the songs from my favourite album live.

Despite the fact I enjoyed listening in to the early shows and I enjoyed the Innocence songs I have to agree with this. The new segment blows that out of the water, 4 great songs from the Achtung baby/Zooropa era and even prior to that I preferred the initial changes they made to the European set anyway. I do think the band were as prepared as they could be prior to the tour, i think they just made a poor judgement or to be kinder a not so good judgement with the early setlists compared to now. My initial feeling was that nothing was going to beat last year and the excitement of hearing so many great songs from TJT for the first time but with what they’re playing now I suspect I might be about to witness the show(s) of my life next week.
  9. They need to find a way for The Unforgettable Fire to be brought back in, between Beautiful Day and Zoo Station would be great.

Also, was last night the first time The Fly was not performed straight after Zoo Station when both have been played on the same night?

The addition of TUF would be more than welcome but there’s so much great stuff in the set now it isn’t overly important. As for zoo station and the fly it happened once in the zoo tv tour on 7/3/92 where real thing was played after zoo station, don’t know of any others though.

1992-03-07 Hampton, The Fly was played after EBTTRT and MW for the only time that tour, not sure about Vertigo tho
