  1. during Vertigo Tour was on the encore, after Zoo Station
  2. IMO I don’t think the band & their creative team were ready when the tour kicked off in the US. I think the JT30 tour and the additional 2 legs that were added put them behind. From JT30 they went straight into the SOE promo work and then it was only a few months before the tour kicked off.

    So they’ve basically had to ‘create’ the show as it’s gone along. Why didn’t it start like this on leg 2? I don’t think they did all that much rehearsal before Berlin - I think they took full advantage of the 2 months off and they weren’t ready to make further changes than those that kicked off the European leg straight away.

    Also - they’ve said all along they want to stand by and sell the newer material - they believe - at least in interviews that their latest work stands up alongside their ‘greatest’ moments and they probably didn’t want to be seen playing c.60% of a 25+ year old album a year after they played all of JT.

    I suppose it’s not dissimilar to what they did with the later legs of 360 when mich of the NLOTH stuff was dropped and it went very AB/ greatest hits heavy.

    It now looks and feels like the Experience & Innocence tour and I bet of most of us on here with our realistic hats on were to come up with a setlist that built up that narrative we’d proabbaly come up with something not dissimilar to what they played last night.

    In terms of the AB30 tour I don’t think it will ever happen so this might be it.
  3. It also opened the encore for the Vertigo tour at several shows, Zoo Station was not played when they did it.
  4. I don't think that the latest shows are much better than the previous ones. I attended both Copenhagen shows, the first one was the last show with the Innocence section. Beleive me, it was also a very good show, full with energy and fun. The second show was the turning point in this tour but it only means 3 songs from the whole show. 85% remained the same. I understand that the new songs are from the Achtung Baby era which are also my favourite but I think the hype is coming from the fact that these are not so often played. Until now... So nobody should be sorry for people attending previous shows.

    Yes. loved the changes but most is same. Great show with lots
    of energy.
  6. So what are people’s thoughts on New Year’s Day being switched out for the UK shows? I have a feeling The Unforgettable Fire may take it’s spot. The band would be floging a dead horse keeping the eu flag flying, hope they just ditch the flag and keep New Year’s Day though ...

    I think they’ll continue with the EU flag in the UK. Bono mentioned in that article published before Berlin 1 that they wanted to “make a case for Europe”, and there’s no better place to do that right now than the UK. Don’t think it’ll go over well with everyone at every gig, but I don’t see that segment being changed.

    Exactly. No way NYD will be dropped, especially not in the UK.

    I'm with you. I too think that the mission will be "damage control." The U.K. are going to leave the E.U., that is for sure.
    No point in waving the EU flag.

    But, as an Irish band with "peace keeping force," the most important issue for them is to maintain that "soft" border
    between Northern Ireland and the Republic. That's like sacred: the peace between the North and the South.
    No more Troubles. No more going back....

    I predict a flag half EU and half Union Jack. Like hand in hand, and the Unforgettable Fire as reminder & feel good song.
    No point in singing "nothing changes on New Year's Day" when things are going to change...

    Or, if they want to spice things up: revive that old SBS "full band" electric version

    It is upon reflection of the vote which sealed the deal that many of the UK citizens are wanting to stay in the EU. We have heard this process drag on for too long.

    Were a second (unlikely) vote made we would still be with you. We should be with you. A lot of us love EU.

    This is a regressive step. I believe many of us in these forthcoming UK shows will be of the same thinking and united to the 'case for europe'.
  12. I agree we will the 100% leaving the EU and there will be no second referendum. But I will say if a lot of people knew what they knew now they may have voted differently and we wouldn't have this messy divorce on our hands. We in the UK must feel some pain for leaving but it is just how much pain we are given. But it will be very interesting how this all goes down in the next week in the UK the press here like to give Bono a hard time so I am sure every word he says will be amplified by the media.
