    See, I understand some disappointment. The reason? Most of us here see the band multiple times and/or have seen them multiple times so we have a lot of shows to compare. Most people do not do that obviously. It can be all about perspective.
    I have seen shows were I know the band are flat. But 90% of the people there probably thought it was a fantastic show. But having seen multiple shows I knew they were not "on". They are humans and it can happen.
    But I have never come away from actually being at a show were I was "pissed" or "upset" about the setlist or the production. I guess I had/have trouble wrapping my head around that perspective from those of you that have conveyed it on this thread.

    It's all a matter of perspective as you very well pointed out. Having pressed the "submit your post" button over 54,000 times in this website kind of gives you away and that might give you a hint about the kind of person you're talking to. "A tad extreme" is a good description of how I take my passion for this band.

    So yeah, when I saw they missed the chance of playing A Sort Of Homecoming in their homecoming gig, when I saw they refused playing I Will Follow or other surprise in the encore of their Dublin gig, when I saw the band going 100% through the motions and playing "just another gig" and not giving a shit about it being the only Irish gig of the tour, that truly disappointed me. To be honest I was disappointed from the start knowing that TJT30 Tour was just a patch, a replacement tour to keep LiveNation satisfied due to SOE and its tour weren't ready by end of 2016 as they had agreed. I had that mindset since the start of the tour, BUT I swear, I swear to Hendrix that I cleansed all of that the moment I stepped foot over Ireland for the 7th time. I was ready to have the time of my life... and I didn't. The missed chances -not only in terms of setlist choices- meant too much to me and I was utterly disappointed. If Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Pearl Jam or any of my "other favorite" bands took these same decissions and missed the same chances, it wouldn't hurt as much because they don't mean as much to me as U2 does.

    Now with this new tour they had the chance to redeem themselves in front of me, but to my eyes (judging from what I saw one month ago in Madrid) they just keep going through the motions and squeezing the money cow to the max while keeping the effort machine to the min (represented by the strong IE-recycling up to Copenhagen2). And still I give them another chance because I am about to see 3 of my all time favorite songs replacing most of that lazy IE recycling.

    Are they still my favorite band? Sure they are, and always will be. Does that make me oblivious to these facts and feelings? Absolutely not.

    RFD over Gloria?? Seriously, haven't t they done just that on this tour? So, there is a chance actually. Doubt it at this point, I think Gloria is sort of a staple. Nothing against Gloria, I like the song. But I think RFD is one of the better Experience songs.

    Agree. Everyone has their own individual tastes & opinions. Makes it tough for the band to keep all is crazies satisfied.

    I for one was very disappointed to not have heard RFD performed at any of my three shows. Yeah, I love Gloria, but RFD is probably my favourite off the album, so would have been a great moment for me. All Because of You, I really dislike that song & got it twice in my three shows.

    Love this version of NYD, so very happy to hear that instead of American Soul. Was quite disappointed that LIAWHL didn't open the show, as it did in the US.

    Can't keep everyone 100% satisfied, 100% of the time. But still a great show.

    There's a reason why SOI songs were in the set, since SOI and SOE are sister albums (btw, can I have at least Cedarwood Road and Raised by wolves live since I did not see them for I/E and consider SOI to be the better of the two records ? Guess not. Everyone can play the setlist games...) Also, want to see how this flies with folk in Asia or Australia who did not see U2 since 360 ? Meanwhile, you got I/E, JT30 and E/I. With them ageing, brush with mortality from Bono etc. Be happy we still get shows.

    Spot on! I haven’t been able to see the past two tours due to the cost of travel and tickets and it makes me very sad.

    While I also get and even agree to an extent that using the same sequence during e+I as i+e with the same images was a bit strange, on the flip side people complain here when there is a new tour and the previous album is ignored. Everyone wants it all.

    I understand and respect your opinion. I missed seeing A Sort Of Homecoming by a show on JT 2017 and ASOH is one of my bucketlist songs to see in person. Then they played it the next night. So, yes, that is a tad disappointing. BUT I did see one of the better versions of Bad I have ever see them do instead. Again, it is about perspective and how you want to look at things. I have never and probably will never see the band play Dublin. You had the opportunity to do it. A lot of fans dream of being able to do that. I guess I'm not as extreme to the negative as a lot of us here are. I can be critical of the band and have been. But the extreme statements strike me as odd sometimes. I guess thats just me.

    I do think the band are very tired right now. Still seem to be putting on some great shows. So I don't necessarily see them as going through the motions. Edge is constantly working on the tone of his guitars. If he didn't care, he wouldn't do it. The only time they typically coast is the last 3-4 weeks of a tour. Which is typical of a lot of major acts. But they are not doing that this time. I guess it is due to the Blu Ray shoot. But I never got the vibe of going through the motions on this tour. JT 2017, maybe a little, especially the first leg.

    Also, can someone please show me the proof that U2 did JT 2017 for the Live Nation contract only? A lot of people say this as if it is fact. I think it was a bonus part of doing it. But I think the main reason was Bono's health problem and the album not being ready. U2's crew was already booked for the year. So they came up with the JT 2017 tour. But I do not think it was solely due to the Live Nation contract.
