    I went a number of JT shows last year and Cleveland and London were both superior. That's what I'm saying.

    I don’t think it’s the surprise factor that makes a show better or worse but if the band perform two setlists equally well and one of they setlists features songs you rate more favourably of course it’s going to have a significance on how we view a show. I agree though that it shouldn’t be the difference between great and average but perhaps a very good show turns into great based on song choices as long as the performance level remains high.

    as long as all other factors are equal setlists may start to make a difference.. I was just thinking about my favourite shows and they all had the so called 'weaker' setlist.. even last time month in Amsterdam where I got to hear Gloria for the first time.. 2nd night it was replaced with a very average song, but still I liked that show a whole lot better...
    so when those guys were talking about that Dublin show, I think the main 'problem' was that it was only one show and the first one always is a bit more tense and the band playing it more safe.. but looking at the setlist, the atmosphere, the big show... how can seeing U2 in the North Side of Dublin be a dissapointment? maybe they saw too many shows, maybe they saw the band too many times in Dublin already? maybe they were tired of travelling, tired of partying or whatever.. but I just can't believe that one song can make or break a show. U2 shows are not about completing your song bucket list, they are just there too be enjoyed.

    To me the only factors that are important are performance and Setlist. Honestly they could be playing Dublin or Dubai and it wouldn’t make a difference to me I just want to hear them playing the songs I love the most to a high standard. Even the crowd interaction means nothing to me, if the guy beside me is staring at his phone I wouldn’t even notice as I’d be fully concentrated on the band. I really don’t go to a gig to just simply enjoy myself. Hearing stay for the first time in 17 years a couple of weeks ago meant everything to me, 2 nights in a row was something I could never have imagined, of course that alone wouldn’t have been make or break but as a comparison zoo station, the Fly, stay and wild horses vs the ocean, iris, cedarwood, sbs, and UTEOTW Is the difference between being happy with he latter and being blown away by the former, a sequence of songs I will never forget.

    That was a theory back then, don't know where it comes from either. I for one think it's weird a big band like them would allow themselves to be pushed into doing a tour by Live Nation but who knows. JT30 is still, to me, the weirdest tour they've ever done. To be a fly on the wall when they decided to do it...

    If true though, with rumours of them wanting a real break now, I guess AB30 just got more likely if they need to fulfill touring commitments with Live Nation but the next album won't be out by 2020. (If I remember right doesn't the current Live Nation contract expire in 2020?)

    I think they signed a new 10 year contract with them a few months back
  11. Guess tonight "Dirty Day" will return after a quarter of a century. I hope they don't drop Gloria/RDF/ABOY for it and it's an extra song for the four remaining shows.

    IF that theory is true, it was likely only because of Bono's accident/delaying SOE that they didn't have the current tour ready for 2017. So, it was a misstep.

    "AB30" isn't happening lol, other than the current setlist.
