  1. Auckland 2 will really be a ghost show if its true that only 25% of the tickets are sold (is what I heard).
  2. Frankly I’m excited to see just how empty night 2 is. They kinda deserve it, given the ticket prices. If they had vertigo level prices these shows would all be sold out, or at least 75% full instead of 25%.

Unfortunately, this will just make them less likely to come to NZ in the future.

Yes they deserve to make lots of money from a less than half full show. There’s GA available which aren’t that expensive so what makes you think cheaper tickets would have had the type of impact you’re claiming? I reckon better pricing could have appealed to a certain amount of fans that prefer seats but it wouldn’t have trebled the number they’re going to get. This is as much if not more a demand issue than a pricing issue, look at other artists who have played there and you’ll see u2 are doing just fine. They’ll still be able to visit NZ in the future if they are doing that part of the world but it would just be one night probably.
  4. For reference - Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen (last time he visited and he played one show in Christchurch), and Justin Bieber have only played one show in Auckland on their tours...

2 is a bit of a stretch maybe. Metallica's two shows in Auckland before the postponement sold pretty similarly to U2's.
  5. Just a bit of an observation I think they’re trying to make the place look more full by only selling tickets now on every second row on the lower levels which makes sense from a visual point of view I guess. It’s maybe possible as was mentioned a while back that they will move people around a bit.

GA is sold out right? and some of the blocks in the stands are also already sold out, so I guess over 50% of the tickets is already sold. And often in the end things don't turn out as bad as they might look like.. I think it will be at least 80% filled when the show starts.

No Ga isn’t sold out (in fact maybe it has that’s greyed out now too but I think they’ve just removed that option to try and fill seats). They’re going to have a less than half full stadium. Even a lot of the seats that have now been greyed out haven’t been sold but taken off sale. You can tell because it would be too much coincidence for alternate rows only to sell out.

I'm not convinced by that.. I don't see why you would remove GA when you're not selling well.. in my opinion that's the most stupid thing you can do. GA and seat are a bit of a separate market I would say. And those blocks of seats, maybe they were assigned automatically to people who didn't bother to pick their own seats?? Just selected the cheapest option?

Well they’ve done it before where Ga hasn’t been on sale and then suddenly there’s a ticket drop of the day of the show. But maybe they have sold out the GA section time will tell as pictures taken from night 1 and night 2 will highlight any differences. As for the seats it seems strange to me that so many people wouldn’t want to chose there own seat. Some of these are amongst the most expensive tickets you’d at least like to pick where you’re going to be. I don’t believe for one minute there’s been a sudden surge of people buying tickets who haven’t wanted to chose there seat but again time will tell. I accept at this point that is only my view and there isn’t real proof yet and I actually hope I’m wrong and they are shifting a lot more tickets but I just doubt it.
  10. Have they done that on the seat map because they are in the process of moving people around??

yes, we will see in a couple of days.. but let's just focus on the people that are there, and not on those that are not. I don't like the term 'ghost show'

So what if it's sold out or not they will use the 2 nights in Auckland to get right up to speed and sort any sound or technical glitches they probably knew they wouldn't sell out the 2 nights as they've had similar problems selling tickets there before at their peak and thought they'd use it as glorified warm up shows.
