I wonder what equipment you guys use to listen to your CDs. The sound quality of the early releases is way below today's standards, so a remaster is really appropriate.
You even get the choice to buy the remastered album alone or a package with Bonus Material. Can't see a rip off or sell out. I would follow that argument if they would re-release those albums unremastered and with one single 'rare' track added. But they don't.
For listening it's on the new iPod classic at AAC lossless (even though it's a new sound chip which is a lot poorer than what the last gen was), or Foobar2000 with the Deep DSP applied - which sounds pretty good with FLAC5.
Even though I had a few of the B-sides and outtakes on the Joshua Tree - Beautiful Ghost, Rise Up etc...I bought the box-set with anything and everything. It cost a bomb but selling out is just putting out the album again - same artwork, same booklet, same recording quality and the same songs. But they're not.
