1. DVDS in general don't work anymore.they don't sell.the time has passed.
personally i feel disappointed by this new gift……..give us something like U22 or stuff like that…….
this dvd is just for thew subscriber?ok i welcome this gift.but not so happily
  2. Yes, DVD sales decline. Or better, physical media sales in general. A commercial release of the Berlin show might not be a huge success and only hardcore fans would buy it. For that case, releasing the film only to subscribed (=paying) members is ok.

The problem is the format. It is the lowest quality one can offer. SD, and that in NTSC, presumably, with even lower resolution than PAL.

Yes, some members don’t have a BD Player and can only play DVD. But why not offer a possibility to choose? Or even a nice set with DVD and BD?

The most expensive part of a concert film production is the shooting itself and the post production. All that is done in 4k. And now they safe the rather small costs for authoring a BD Master once and the reproduction cost? Chrissie found out on u2tour.de that a DVD is 0,38 € per unit, a BD 50 is 1,34€. That’s what they are safing.

And they do not sell the DVD for a small price. We won’t get any presales this period and we all know that the exclusive digital content they offer is worth a shit.

The truth is we pay 40 or 50 USD for a DVD with a concert movie. I hardly can remember any DVD or BD that expensive. It’s not a gift at all.

the problem is that the band know that if it offers the Berlin concert in FULL HD it will probably be pirated and then sold on sites in Blu-Ray boxes much more expensive than the subscription ! DVD format is to protect the work.

"give us something like U22 or stuff like that……." They just gave you the I&E audio cd ,christ some people are never happy.
  5. I do think that most computers these days don't have Blu-Ray drives, so at least it'll be easier to watch it on dvd.
  6. Not really. A lot of computers these days don't come with CD/DVD drives and many people use tablets and iPads which don't have them either; so it's really only those with old computer technology who will be able to watch this old technology on computer. Getting a DVD as the gift is nice but it's my third preference behind a blu-ray or digital download.

The cd of I&E is really good.i’m happy For that.except for the delay in delivery.i’m just saying that the new gift is something that i find obsolete.
I’d rather receive audio stuff than visual

  11. Uhhm, just because a medium isn't dominate anymore doesn't mean it creases to exist.
  12. Being 47 I noticed the different changes in music throughout the years.and lately technology is going veeeery fast.who talks to me and says : hey! Vinyls coming back!i answer it never went away....but the biggest changes have happened with cassettes,Vhs,dvd, blue ray....or for who has seen them once in his life, laser disc.i’m aware that these things will disappear sooner or later.me myself I’m getting tired of cds.i never really loved dvds or else.just because I didn’t.my children don’t buy physical releases of music.it’s only me home that spends money on music......so : U2.com ,give us Vinyls!
