There’s always more people who have it and spread it than the number of confirmed cases. This is just common sense.

At first, people were advised in the UK not to go to pubs and bars... then people went anyway because it was voluntary. The same thing happened in France. Now the pubs, bars, cafes, nightclubs, restaurants, etc have been told to close because not everyone was listening to the advice.
Precisely, human beings are showing a lack of intelligence. To be fair it would have resulted in the same thing anyway because pubs, bars, cafe’s and restaurants would have closed if they were empty all day but I think the government wanted to be seen as giving people a chance first of all and I can’t argue with that idea. Ultimately people thought it was more important to continue with there daily routines than save people’s lives, sad but true.
  2. I'm only going to post information that can be useful to you and your loved ones about Covid-19. I'll try to put a link to sources.

    1. It was reported initially that taking anti-inflammatory medicine like ibuprofen for Covid-19 could actually worsen the illness. However, it appears that there's no scientific evidence of this at this point.

    2. Your pet cannot transmit Covid-19 to you, so please don't abandon your pets out of fear. Lots of pure breed dogs are roaming the streets in China because of this fallacy. Also, only 2 dogs in China/Hong Kong have tested positive for Covid-19, but days later they tested negative, so your pet should be fine.

    3. If you're healthy and you are not taking care of a person infected with Covid-19, you don't have to wear any masks. Masks do not eliminate the risk of contagion from surfaces to hands to face, and you're just creating a shortage of masks for the people that actually need them. If you have to wear a mask, the link above shows how to properly put up your mask.

    4. There are no treatments or drugs for preventing the contagion of Covid-19. No, Trump was talking out of his ass when he said that chloroquine was approved as a drug for Covid-19. Also, eating a shit ton of garlic or Vitamin C supplements does not prevent Covid-19. Don't fall for any of that homeopathy or pseudo-science crap.

    5. Think nothing's going to happen to you because you're in your 20's? Well, besides being a walking contagion source for your loved ones and other people, even healthy patients can loose 20-30% of functionality in your lungs after recovering. This is a serious disease, so please keep your distance with other persons.

    6. The following chart can be useful to distinguish a common cold vs the flu vs Covid-19.

If I think of more, I'll put it here. Stay safe everyone, and pass it on.
  3. 4) Eating foods that boost your immune system can actually help you probably recover more easily as your immune system is able to fight it off better. So eating foods rich in vitamine C can actually be very helpful and is a good thing to do anyway. It might surely not prevent it but let’s assume half of us will get it some day, then that’s a good thing to do.

Actually, boosting your immune system is one of the best advice out there imho.

I’m eating tons of fruit and veggies these days, rich in Vitamin C (blueberries, spinach, citrus), sleep long and exercise and your defense system is ready in case it might happen. Maybe even assume it will some day.
  4. Loss of smell and taste is also a sign of Covid19

Absolutely. 1 out of 2 will likely be infected and, if numbers get that big, hospitals will be overwhelmed (by different orders of magnitude) - so our immune system will be our best and only ally.
  7. I found an extremely interesting article about flu epidemics in Italy in the past few years:

    https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1201971219303285

The article is from November 2019

It says: "Italy showed a higher influenza attributable excess mortality compared to other European countries. especially in the elderly."

It says that 68.000 people died in Italy because of flu between 2013-2017. 25.000 people died because of flu in Italy just in the season 2016-17.

Isn't the current situation pretty much what happens annualy in this part of the World?

I mean in our country we have 900 cases and 0 deaths. One starts to think, that it might be because of different level of health care. But that makes no sense. If we were to follow Italy, which our politicians keep on repeating, we would have to have 80 people dead. That amount of people is not even hospitalized. They are at home and they get no medical treatment whatsoever. There are 7 serious cases and the level of medical care will take part in whether they survive or not. But it has pretty much zero impact on the rest of the cases.

    So...?

How come 68.000 dead people in Italy during four flu seasons (25.000 in one year!) was no global problem and 4.000 dead people by the end of March this year stop the World turning?

Gastrointestinal symptoms aren't as rare as thought initially.
Some studies have shown that up to 50% may have some abdominal discomfort, diarrhea and nausea, because the receptor that the virus uses to enter the organism, called ACE-2, while most abundant in the lungs, is also located in the gastrointestinal tract

It’s the statistics they have so far combined with it being a bit of an unknown disease that have led to them taking the coronavirus so seriously. Here’s a link which sums it up,

1.2% mortality rate for the flu (or even less) 9% for coronavirus. From those numbers, roughly, if my maths is correct.

Health care systems expect and prepare for the flu every year. And they prepare to have the capacity to deal with it. Now, this has a much higher rate of hospital admission and mortality for the elderly and vulnerable and hospitals in Italy are overwhelmed and struggling to cope.

    And there is no vaccine.

At least that's how I see it.

And no one is immune yet. So the rate is just way too high indeed.
