    Camera is shit on the Desire S too. Can't really comment on battery yet. Screens are similar (desire s is better but I do prefer amoled). The Desire is faster but not 300 quid faster. Have you looked into custom roms yet for the San Fran. It can be speeded up quite easily.

    No, I haven't actually. Might actually do that, because it sometimes crashes on apps. How much do you think one would be & would it be alot of hassle to do it?
  3. @Kieran , battery life is shit in everything nowadays (except iPhone, I have to admit). I remember when I charged my old Nokia 3300 only once a week. Now, virtually every smartphone needs to be charged once a day if you do a normal use of it (including internet, camera, music player, texting, etc).

    Yeah, I suppose that is true.

    I remember charging my Sony Ericsson K750i almost every week. That was great, because if you forgot to charge it, it would have enough battery to last another day. But if I forget to charge the San Francisco one night, I will struggle to last the next day. I might get it to the charger with only 2% battery left, or it might just run out mid-way through the day.

    It's not particularly difficult. I'll throw a few links in later. Essentially you will be installing a different build on Android to the phone that's much lighter, efficent and faster. It gets rid of all of the Orange boosts that's installed too. It takes around twenty no.it's a to do. A few lines of text into a command prompt window is the height of it.

  7. Nothing like being able to flash your phone or tablet so it gets rid of all the bloat. I have the S7 tablet (Ideos) and before with the Telstra stuff, it was so slow and I had no need for it. Then I flashed it with a custom ROM - an unsupported one, and it's actually responsive now and works with the naked finger properly rather than using the stylus.


  10. Under? For battery? I think it all depends on whether the manufacturer of the device leaks a kernel source that depends on how much the hacker scene takes it on. The Desire S has barely been touched in terms of ROMS. Patiently waiting as i'm using a network branded phone full of bloat.

    It's running an unsupported Huwaei 2.2.2 ROM (so no bloatware unless you count some pre-bundled apps) as it was never going to be updated anyway but that's what I was wondering. As I'm getting about 2.5 hours out of it at decent use, I wanna clock it back to maybe 25% less and get more battery life. It's really the screen size that does it because it's so fucking big.

    Although not always desirable, never underestimate how much battery you can save by dimming the screen by even 10%. It may look dim straight away but your eyes will adjust and the battery should improve considerably.
