1. Was yet another fantastic evening

Started off seating on BLK17, but upon noticing that the crowd around us weren't doing much, we decided to hit the field and stand. Come the end of the night we were quite a distance forward and the atmosphere down there was immense. Glad we got up and joined them. I turned around midway through the show and saw that the blocks near where I was upposed to be sitting were considerably emptier than at the start, so maybe more hd the same idea.

Great night, great atmosphere, same set as Wembley but I'm not bothered. Had a good time!

And what a legend the bloke was who ran onto the stage and across a bridge as the guys were clearing up.

Ha, I've just gone ahead and downloaded every show going thus far

Before the 'oooooooooohs' that follow the break, he simply says "Gloria" and then during the outro. he sings "in te domine, Gloria". Very small, but it was cool and I felt a little pang for noticing it lol, right U2 geek

What row were you? I was in block 18, then me and my mate moved to 17 when the people behind us were being boring and arsey about everyone standing (ridiculous), probably took your space much better block, atmosphere was great near the end, got a fantastic view and feel for the whole gig.

Being in the Mexican waves this time was a proper laugh, got the whole place in high spirits before the band took to the stage and I think it stayed that way throughout

this exactly. (EDIT: apart from the block 35 part, obv. GA's where it's at.)

I also loved it when Guy Garvey from Elbow made one of the stands sing a part of one of their songs (Grounds For Divorce, I think it was) on their own and then he said "no, no, it's not like that, there's significantly fewer of them."

I lol'd a bit, but you probably had to be there.

    U2
    August 20th 2009
    Don Valley Stadium,Sheffield, Yorkshire, England

I was so excited to see U2 play in my home county of Yorkshire for the first time since Popmart!

Here, I was to the left of the stage, inbetween the left side front claw and the main double tierd stand.

The audience around me was very chilled, not the manic audiences I have recently experienced in Dublin and London. The sound wasnt quite as loud to the side as I have exprienced to the front and under the claw.

I have eq'd the bass right down on this one. And why have they suddenly, after 17 years, suddenly slightly altered the chorus to UV??!

I hope this is a nice companion to the radio broadcast.

    ENJOY

  9. haha yeah.

my Dad was like "Dan, look?" and I said "what?" and he was like "The Edge? didn't you see him? he just ran past!" and I just got a glimpse of him and his little beanie hat running back round to the other side like a giddy lttle boy
  10. Excellent as always they never fail to impress,ONE OF THE BEST GROUPS OF ALL TIME,

Like i mentioned before been a fan of theirs for the last 30 years or so.

thanks to ethan hawk for uploading the radio broadcast, ive now put this on cd which i will be playing in my car for a long time to come.
  11. Seems like they're maintaining a good old tradition. Broadcast show - cracked Bono voice.

  12. I can't say I think his voice is cracked but that's how I see it

EDIT - is there a lossless version of last night available? Or rather, does anyone know if there's one in the pipeline or is it simply a case of wait and see?
